Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for controlling a biomass or a seed production of a plant comprising a step for controlling an expression of OsPrMC3 (Oryza sativa Pinus radiata Male Cones 3) by transforming onto a plant cell a recombinant vector that includes a OsPrMC3 protein coding gene derived from rice; a method for producing a transgenic plant with a controlled biomass or seed production comprising a step for transforming plant cells using the recombinant vector that includes the OsPrMC3 protein coding gene; the transgenic plant with the controlled biomass or seed production produced by the above method and the seed thereof; and a composition for controlling the biomass or seed production of the transgenic plant that contains the recombinant vector including the OsPrMC3 protein coding gene. The OsPrMC3 gene of the present invention controls a tiller number and a number of side branches of food crops, garden crops, fodder crops, and bioenergy crops so that a plant with increased seed production and biomass can be developed, thereby capable of being very practical for industrial use.
