Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition for preventing and treating thrombosis containing ginsenoside isolated from processed ginseng extract is provided to ensure blood platelet aggregation without side effects and cytotoxicity. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating thrombosis contains processed ginseng extract or ginsenoside compound isolated from the extract as an active ingredient. The processed ginseng extract is obtained by heating ginseng at 70-150°C for 2 to 6 hours. The ginsenoside compound is ginsenoside Rk1, ginsenoside Rg5, 20(S)-ginsenoside Rg3 or 20(R)-ginsenoside Rg3. Thrombosis is artery scleroma, embolus, ischemic heart disease, stroke, angina, the cerebral infarction, immunocompromised host, blood tumor, atherothrombosis, cirrhosis of the kidney or myocardial infarction. A functional health food is powder, granule tablet, capsule, syrup, or beverage.
