Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for determining macro block mode and a device thereof in an image encoder device are provided to control weight of movement estimation according to image characteristic of current macro block, thereby reducing the complexity of encoder by reducing the calculation amount which is necessary for movement estimation in a mode determination process of the macro block. Abstract: 본 발명은 외부 메모리 액세스를 최소화하는 움직임 탐색 방법 및 장치에 관한 것으로 DMA(Direct memory access)를 이용하여 SAD연산 동안 외부 메모리를 액세스하며, 메모리 액세스와 SAD연산 처리에 있어서, 하나의 블록이 입력되면 매크로 블록의 위치가 어느 위치인지를 판단하여 주변 움직임 벡터와 소정의 외부 파라미터에 따라 수평 탐색 라인 길이를 설정하는 과정과, 주변 움직임 벡터의 중간값으로 예측 움직임 벡터를 산출하여 예측 움직임 벡터의 수직 방향 값을 초기 탐색 라인으로 설정하고, 적어도 하나의 수평 탐색 라인을 순차적으로 탐색하여 SAD를 계산하는 과정과, 적어도 하나의 수평 탐색 라인에서 최소 SAD의 위치를 판단하여 중심 라인에 위치하는 경우, 탐색을 종료하고 해당 최소 SAD위치를 최종 움직임 벡터로 선택함으로써 외부 메모리 액세스를 획기적으로 줄여 전체 움직임 벡터 추정의 소요 사이클수는 줄이고 움직임 벡터 추정의 정확도를 높일 수 있는 효과가 있다.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for predictive intra coding/decoding for video and an apparatus for same are provided to improve estimation performance by performing intra estimation by sub-unit for the intra-estimation of a coding unit. CONSTITUTION: An intra-prediction video coding apparatus includes an intra predictor(110), a subtractor(120), a storage(130), a residual data encoder(140), a residual data decoder(150), an adder(155), an entropy encoder(160), a controller(180), and a MUX( Multiplexer)(190). The controller indicates an IPM for a coding unit to the intra predictor. The intra predictor individually predicts a plurality of sub-units included in the coding unit in the IPM. Specifically, the intra predictor sequentially predicts the sub-units of a coding unit, referring to stored intra-prediction coded pixels in the intra-prediction order. The intra predictor also generates a predicted sub-unit 10 by applying the IPM to each sub-unit. In the process of intra-prediction, a recovered sub-unit(30) is created from residual data between a predicted sub-unit(10) and an original sub-unit(20) at the same position as the predicted sub-unit and the intra predictor uses the pixels of the recovered sub-unit as a reference for intra-prediction of a next sub-unit. Upon completion of intra-prediction for every sub-unit of the coding unit, the intra predictor calculates the cost of the IPM for the coding unit.

Abstract: A block mode determining method for video encoding, and an apparatus therefor are provided to determine various macro block modes in an early stage according to a degree of block size activity by using the history characteristic of block size for a prior macroblock, thereby reducing the amount of motion estimation and rate-distortion operation required to a macroblock mode selection process significantly to reduce the entire complexity of an encoding system greatly.
