Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing an electrode for a fuel cell is provided to improve the reaction efficiency of catalyst, thereby lowering the filled amount of catalyst significantly and to permit uniform interface characteristics between a diffusion layer and a catalyst layer and low interface resistivity. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of: mixing a catalyst particle, a hydrogen ion-conductive polymer and a solvent system suitable to disperse or dissolve the catalyst particle and the hydrogen ion-conductive polymer to prepare a catalyst slurry in which the catalyst particle is uniformly dispersed; applying the catalyst slurry onto a polymer substrate and drying the applied substrate to form a catalyst layer on the polymer substrate; and overlaying the polymer substrate and a diffusion layer such that the polymer substrate is in contacts with the diffusion layer and then, applying thereto heat and pressure to transfer the catalyst layer onto the diffusion layer. Particularly, the transfer step comprises passing the polymer substrate and diffusion layer between two hot plates or hot rolls.
