Abstract: PURPOSE: A fuel cell is provided to obtain high energy conversion efficiency regardless of the existence of a platinum catalyst used in a cathode and to replace the platinum catalyst for inexpensive other catalysts. CONSTITUTION: A fuel cell comprises an anode(10) using oxidation reaction of fuel, a cathode(20) using reduction reaction of oxidizing agent, and an electrolyte or ion exchange membrane(30) located between the anode and cathode. The cathode comprises non-metal pure materials selected from the group consisting of N, F, I, S, Cl and Br, a compound, and at least one selected from ions of the pure materials or the compound, wherein the compound is at least one selected from hydrides, oxides or hydroxides.
