Abstract: An optical waveguide film for key pad illumination of a portable terminal and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce light loss in an interface by forming a heterogeneous resin protective layer in at least one surface of a transparent resin layer. An optical waveguide film includes a transparent resin layer(11), a protective layer(12), and a light scattering pattern(2). The transparent resin layer transmits the incident light from a side optical source. The protective layer is positioned in at least one surface of the transparent resin layer. The light scattering pattern is carved in the transparent resin layer or the protective layer and changes the transmission direction of the incident light to a keypad direction positioned in an upper part of the optical waveguide film. The transparent resin layer is a thin film that is a main path transmitting the light from an optical source(4). The protective layer is positioned in at least one surface of the transparent resin layer and prevents the scratch in the surface of the transparent layer or the contamination due to the dust. The protective layer reduces the leakage of the light transmitted by the total reflection in the transparent resin layer.

Abstract: A light diffusion film having surface protecting function is provided to reduce the manufacturing cost by using the light diffusion film with no protective film. A multilayer light diffusion film comprises a core layer(11) and a skin layer(12). The emboss pattern is molded in the surface of the skin layer. The core layer is made of the thermoplastic resin. The thermoplastic resin is the methacrylic resin, styrene resin, cycloolefin based resin, and polycarbonate. The skin layer is made of the Acryl resin. The Acryl resin is selected from the group consisting of the methylmethacrylate, ethylmethacrylate, propyl methacrylate, butyl methacrylate, methyl acrylate, ethylacrylate, propyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate, 2- ethylhexylacrylat, 2- hydroxy ethyl acrylate, 2- hydroxyproylacrylate, monoglycerol acrylate, acrylamide, metacryl amide, the alicyclic Acryl resin and their mixture.
