A flame retardant styrene resin composition containing symmetric cyclic phosphonate compound is provided to ensure excellent flam resistance and impact strength. A symmetric cyclic phosphonate compound of the chemical formula is produced by reacting a phosphonic dichloride of the chemical formula 2 and a polyol of the chemical formula 3 under the presence of the base. In the chemical formula 1, R1 and R2 are individually hydrogen, alkyl group of C1~C6 or aryl group of C6~C20. A flame retardant styrene resin composition comprises 100 weight part of base resin containing 60-99 weigh% of styrene resin and 1-40 weight% of polyphenylene ether resin, and 0.5-50 weight par of symmetric cyclic phosphonate compounds or their mixture.

A sterically hindered phenolic phosphonate-based flame retardant is provided to ensure excellent fire retardant effect, to prevent environmental contamination, and to be applicable to the thermalplastic flame retardant polycarbonate resin composition. A sterically hindered phenolic phosphonate-based flame retardant has a structure of chemical formula 1. In chemical formula 1, R1 is C1-C6 alkyl and C6-C14 aryl group; R2 is C1-C6 linear alkyl and C3-C6 branched alkyl group; and n is 1-3. A flame retardant polycarbonate-based resin composition comprises a base resin 100.0 parts by weight including a polycarbonate resin; and a sterically hindered phenolic phosphonate-based compound 0.5~20 parts by weight represented by chemical formula 1.

An environment-friendly flame retardant polycarbonate resin composition is provided to ensure the stability to an environment-friendly flame retardant polycarbonate-based resin composition without using a halogen-based flame retardant. A halogen-based flame retardant polycarbonate resin composition comprises a base resin 100.0 parts by weight and a cyclic tertial-butyl phosphonate 0.5-30 parts by weight. The base resin comprises (A) a polycarbonate resin 50-100 weight%, and (B) a rubber-modified aromatic vinyl resin 0-50 weight% and (C) an alkyl (meth) acrylate resin 0-50 weight%. The cyclic t-butyl phosphonate has a structure of the chemical formula 1. In the chemical formula 1, R1 and R2 are H, C1-C6 alkyl and C6-C10 aryl.

PURPOSE: A novel phosphonate compounds and flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition containing the same are provided to ensure stability and strength and to prevent environmental pollution. CONSTITUTION: A phosphonate compound is denoted by chemical formula 1. In chemical formula 1, R1 is alkyl group of C1-C4, phenyl group, or cyano group; and R2 and R3 are independently hydrogen and alkyl of C1-C4. A flame retardant thermoplastic resin composition contains 100 weight parts of thermoplastic resin and 0.5-30 weight parts of phosphonate compounds of chemical formula 1. The composition further contains 1-20 weight parts of phosphate flame retardant compound.

A nonhalogenated flame retardant resin composition is provided to improve the stability to fire, environmental friendliness and impact strength and to enhance molding property by reducing the amount of a polyphenylene ether resin. A nonhalogenated flame retardant resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a base resin which comprises 80-99 parts by weight of an aromatic vinyl-based resin, and 1-20 parts by weight of a polyphenylene ether resin; and 0.5-30 parts by weight of a cyclic t-butyl phosphonate compound. Preferably the cyclic t-butyl phosphonate compound is represented by the formula 1, wherein R1 and R2 are H, a C1-C6 alkyl group or a C6-C10 aryl group. Preferably the aromatic vinyl-based resin is a polymer of rubber and an aromatic monoalkenyl monomer; and the polyphenylene ether resin is poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene) ether.

A nonhalogenated flame retardant styrene-based resin composition, a pellet obtained by extruding the composition, and an exterior material of an electronic device molded from the composition are provided to improve weather resistance, moldability and environmental friendliness by using no halogen-based flame retardant and reducing the amount of polyphenylene ether. A resin composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a base resin which comprises 80-95 wt% of a styrene-based resin and 5-20 wt% of a polyphenylene ether resin; 1-25 parts by weight of a pentaerythritol diphosphonate represented by the formula 1; and 1-25 parts by weight of an organic phosphorus-based compound, wherein R1 is a C1-C12 alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkyl-substituted aryl group, or an aralkyl group. The organic phosphorus-based compound is at least one selected from the group consisting of an alkyl phosphinic acid metal salt compound represented by the formula 2 (wherein R is a C1-C6 alkyl group, a cyclic alkyl group, or a C6-C10 aryl group; M is Al, Zn or Ca; and n is 2 or 3), an aromatic phosphate compound represented by the formula 3 (wherein R3, R4 and R5 are independently H or a C1-C4 alkyl group; X is a C6-C20 aryl group substituted or unsubstituted with an alkyl group derived from resorcinol, hydroquinol or bisphenol A; and n is 0-4), and a phosphazene compound represented by the formula 4 or 5.
