Abstract: PURPOSE: An oral composition containing an aloe extract and a propolis extract having strong antibacterial activity is provided. The composition has synergistic antibacterial effect and is thus used for prevention and treatment of oral diseases. CONSTITUTION: Freeze dried aloe is extracted for 48hr at 67deg.C with 95% ethanol and filtered. The filtrate is concentrated under reduced pressure to give an ethanol extract of aloe, and the residue is extracted for 24hr at 100deg.C with distilled water and concentrated under reduced pressure to give a water extract of aloe. Propolis is extracted for 24hr at room temperature with 95% ethanol and filtered. The filtrate is concentrated under reduced pressure to give an ethanol extract of propolis and the residue is extracted for 4hr at room temperature with distilled water and concentrated under reduced pressure to give a water extract of propolis.
