Abstract: A power control apparatus and a method using the sub-threshold power source are provided to control the power supply and cut off of the main power source about an electronic circuit provided from the main power source according to the operation state of the handheld device. A power control apparatus(100) includes a waiting mode controller(101), a waiting time measurement apparatus(102), and a sub-threshold power source(103). The waiting mode controller schedules the power use of the whole electronic device. The sub-threshold power source supplies power to the waiting mode controller and the waiting time measurement apparatus. The waiting time measurement apparatus measures the time which passes after the waiting mode is disclosed.
