PURPOSE: A smart gateway apparatus and system using the same are provided to enable a user to effectively monitor home electric energy usage information by connecting to a smart gateway apparatus using a portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: A smart gateway apparatus(10) includes a PLC(Power Line Communication) module(110), communication modules(120,130), and a processor(140). The processor deducts electric energy usage data based on one or more home electric energy usage information received using the PLC module. The processor the electric energy usage data to a user terminal according to a user request. A home electric energy management application is activated in the portable terminal. 본 발명은 케이블 어셈블리를 통해 전력을 충전하는 전기자동차 충전 시스템에 포함된 전력선 통신 모뎀에 관한 것으로, 상기 케이블 어셈블리의 통신매체와 커플링되어 상기 전력 충전 시스템으로부터 전송되는 전력선 통신(Power Line Communication: PLC) 신호를 전달하는 PLC 물리계층(Physical Layer); 상기 PLC 물리계층으로부터 전달받은 상기 PLC 신호를 전달하고, 상기 전력 충전 시스템으로 전송할 메시지를 생성하는 PLC MAC(Medium Access Control) 계층; 및 계층화된 프로토콜 구조에서 다수의 계층간 통신기능을 제공하는 상위계층을 포함하며, 상기 PLC 물리계층은, 상기 케이블 어셈블리에 내장된 하나 이상의 전력 공급 터미널 또는 제어 파일럿(control pilot)과 커플링되어 상기 PLC 신호를 송수신하도록 하는 전력선 통신 모뎀을 제공하기 위한 것이다.

본 발명은 전기자동차 배터리를 충전하는 전기자동차 충전 시스템에서 전기자동차의 전력선 통신 방법에 관한 것으로, (a)소정의 케이블 어셈블리를 이용하여 상기 전기자동차에 연결된 전력 공급 시스템으로부터 인밴드 통신을 통해 인밴드 어쏘시에이션 메시지(inband association message)를 수신하는 단계; (b)상기 수신한 인밴드 어쏘시에이션 메시지에 기초하여 상기 전력 공급 시스템으로 전력선 통신 개시를 위한 어쏘시에이션 요청 메시지를 전송하는 단계; 및 (c)상기 전력 공급 시스템으로부터 상기 어쏘시에이션 요청 메시지에 대한 응답 메시지 수신 상태에 따라 상기 전력 공급 시스템과 어쏘시에이션을 수행하여 전력선 통신을 개시하는 단계를 포함하며, 상기 인밴드 어쏘시에이션 메시지는 상기 전력 공급 시스템의 전력선 통신 모뎀의 MAC(Media Access Control) 주소, IP 정보, 디바이스 ID 정보 중 적어도 하나를 포함한다.

PURPOSE: A power line communication (PLC) association method for charging an electrical vehicle and a PLC modem for the same are provided to improve accuracy of an association between a PLC modem and a power supply system charging an electrical vehicle for supporting a high-speed data communication using PLC between the power supply system and the electrical vehicle. CONSTITUTION: An electrical vehicle receives an inband association message from a power supply system, to which the electrical vehicle is connected, through an inband communication using a predetermined cable assembly (S802). The electrical vehicle transmits an association request message to the power supply system based on the received inband association message for starting a power line communication (S804). The electrical vehicle starts the power line communication by performing an association with the power supply system based on a response message to the association request message from the power supply system (S806). PURPOSE: A power line communication (PLC) modem for charging an electric vehicle and a power line communication system for the same are provided to offer a PLC modem enabling a high-speed data communication between an electric vehicle and an electric vehicle charging system, thereby providing overall monitoring of a charging process, charging state information, safety requirements, and various services for users. CONSTITUTION: A PLC modem included in an electric vehicle charging system to charge a battery for an electric vehicle through a cable assembly from a power charging system, comprises a PLC physical layer (301), a PLC medium access control (MAC) layer (302), a network layer (303), and a transmission layer. The PLC physical layer is coupled with a power supply terminal or control pilot built in the cable assembly to deliver a PLC signal. The PLC MAC layer generates an association message for initiation of PLC between the electric vehicle and the power charging system. The network layer is connected to the PLC MAC layer and a convergence service access point (SAP) to deliver data received from the power charging system to an upper layer.
