PURPOSE: A channel-wise modulation scheme selection device and a method thereof in an OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) system are provided to control a data transmission rate of data. CONSTITUTION: A receiving terminal (200) includes a preamble signal reception unit (210), a channel state information measurement unit(220), a signal to noise ratio estimation unit(230), and a feedback processing unit(240). The preamble signal reception unit receives a preamble signal which is periodically transmitted to a transmitting terminal. The channel state information measurement unit measures channel state information from the received preamble signal. The signal to noise ratio estimation unit estimates a signal to noise ratio from the measured channel state information. The feedback processing unit feedback-processes the estimated signal to noise ratio to the transmitting terminal. A viterbi decoder applied to a cable modem and a decoding method thereof are provided to improve performance of the viterbi decoder by reducing complexity of calculating an Euclidean distance in a branch metric calculation unit. A BMC(Branch Metric Calculation)(110) calculates an absolute distance with each reference coordinate determining value based on an input signal and selects the minimum branch metric with the minimum absolute distance. The branch metric calculation unit includes a reference coordinate table(210), an absolute distance calculation unit(220), the minimum branch metric selecting unit, and a branch metric outputting unit(250). A path selecting unit produces the accumulated path metric based on the minimum branch metric, produces the minimum path metric among the accumulated path metric, and confirms the state information of the shortest path. A trace back unit tracks the state information of the shortest path and decodes and outputs the state information of the shortest path.

PURPOSE: A broadcasting program inserting method by detecting an available channel in a hybrid fiber coax network or an optical cable network and an apparatus thereof are provided to adaptively utilize an available channel, thereby inserting or combining a first broadcasting program such as a cable TV program into or with a second broadcasting program. CONSTITUTION: A channel power detector (310) detects an unused Radio Frequency (RF) broadcasting channel out of RF broadcasting channels which are used by an optical to electric converter which converts a first broadcasting program, which is an optical signal, into a first RF signal. A broadcasting reception interface (330) receives at least one second broadcasting program. A broadcasting modulator (320) generates a second RF signal by modulating the second broadcasting program using the unused RF broadcasting channel. A channel combiner (340) combines a broadcasting channel which is used for the first RF signal and the unused RF broadcasting channel. CONSTITUTION: A communication device for the deaf comprises a storage part (10), an information collection part (20), a change control part (30), and an information output part (40). The storage part stores an output voice, an output character, a finger language image, and vibration information corresponding to voice information, a character, and finger language information. The information collection part receives conversation information including voices, images, and letters. The change control part extracts finger language information and voice information and reads and changes information corresponding to an output media.
