Abstract: PURPOSE: An SBS(Stimulated Brillouin Scattering) suppressing apparatus is provided to increase a threshold strength causing the SBS by stimulating a phase modulation effect of a signal channel using a cross phase modulation effect. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of first transmitters(1) have an appropriate wavelength interval used as a signal channel for information transfer. A plurality of second transmitters(2) are used as a monitor control channel of a WDM link system and have a frequency strength and a modulation frequency generating phase modulation. A multiplexer(3) multiplexes output signals of the first and second transmitters(1,2). The first optical amplifier(4) amplifies a signal multiplexed by the multiplexer(3). The second optical amplifier(6) amplifies a signal transferred through an optical fiber(5). A demultiplexer(7) demultiplexes the amplified signal to separate a signal for the signal channel and a signal for the monitor control channel. A plurality of first receivers(8) detect the signal for the signal channel, and a plurality of second receivers(9) detect the signal for the monitor control channel.

Abstract: A low-noise optical fiber amplifier for performing a long-distance optical transmission in a wavelength division multiplexing optical transmission apparatus is provided. This amplifier includes a first optical fiber amplifier having a pre-stage optical fiber, and a first coupler for supplying pump light to the pre-stage optical fiber; a dispersion compensating Raman amplifier (DCRA) connected to the first optical fiber amplifier and having a dispersion compensating optical fiber (DCF) that compensates for the dispersion accumulated in an optical line and generates a Raman gain, and a second coupler for supplying Raman pump light onto the DCF; and a second optical fiber amplifier connected to the DCRA, and including a post-stage optical fiber and a third coupler for supplying pump light onto the post-stage optical fiber.
