Abstract: PURPOSE: A railway fault position detection device and a method thereof are provided to decide the fault position of the communication line by using the transfer time of the signal. CONSTITUTION: A failure position detection part(105) detects the failure position of a line by using the difference of the transmission delay time of the second signal and the transmission delay time of the first signal, and distance between the second terminal and the first terminal. The second signal is received in the first terminal. The first signal is received in the second terminal. In case the intensity when the second signal is selected is not satisfied, or the intensity when the first signal is selected is not satisfied, the failure position detection part detects the failure position of the line again.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A protection recovery switching device in cyclic type passive optical subscriber network is provided to realizing an optical switch of OLT(Optical Line Termination) end in order to set path of protection recovery, thereby improving recovery performance and signal quality. CONSTITUTION: An optical signal transceiver(210) transmits and receives an UL(UpLink) signal of a plurality of RN(Remote Nodes) or a DL(DownLink) signal of a OTL(Optic Line Termination). A control unit(240) transmits the received UL signal through the UL signal switch(230) to the OLT. If failure is detected through the analysis of the received UL signal, the control unit operates a DL signal switch(220) in order to enable DL signal to be transmitted to a plurality of RN by bypassing optical line of the failure detected section.
