Abstract: Techniques are described for a lens containing high dielectric resonators. In one example, a lens comprises a substrate for propagating an electromagnetic wave and a plurality of resonators dispersed throughout the substrate. Each of the plurality of resonators has a diameter selected based at least in part on a wavelength of the electromagnetic wave and is formed of a dielectric material having a resonance frequency selected based at least in part on a frequency of the electromagnetic wave. Each of the plurality of resonators also has a relative permittivity that is greater than a relative permittivity of the substrate. At least two of the plurality of resonators are spaced within the substrate according to a lattice constant that defines a distance between a center of a first one of the resonators and a center of a neighboring second one of the resonators.

Abstract: In some examples, a computing device includes one or more computer processors, a communication device, and a memory comprising instructions that cause the one or more computer processors to: receive, using the communication device and from a set of vehicles, different sets of infrastructure data for a particular infrastructure article that is proximate to each respective vehicle of the set of vehicles, wherein each respective vehicle in the set of vehicles comprises at least one infrastructure sensor that generates infrastructure data descriptive of infrastructure articles that are proximate to the respective vehicle; determine, based at least in part on the different sets of infrastructure data for the particular infrastructure article from each respective vehicle of the set of vehicles, a quality metric for the infrastructure article; and perform at least one operation based at least in part on the quality metric for the infrastructure article.

A temperature sensitive capacitor (21C) is disposed in direct thermal contact with the electrical conductor (31). The temperature sensitive capacitor (21C) includes a dielectric material that has a dielectric constant variable with the temperature of the electrical conductor (31). The temperature of the electrical conductor (31) can be sensed, measured, or monitored by measuring the capacitance of the temperature sensitive capacitor (21C).

Abstract: A system for monitoring temperature of an electrical conductor (31) enclosed in at least a (semi)conductive layer (13) comprising: a passive inductive unit (20), and a transceiver unit (40) and a control unit (50). The passive inductive unit (20) includes at least one temperature sensitive component and is configured to have a resonance frequency and/or Q value that vary with temperature of the electrical conductor (31). The transceiver unit (40) is configured to be electromagnetically coupled to the passive inductive unit (20) and to send out a signal representing the resonance frequency and/or Q value of the passive inductive unit (20). The transceiver unit (40) is further configured to communicate with the control unit (50) which ascertains the signal representing one or both of the resonance frequency and Q value, and which determines a value of the temperature of the electrical conductor (31) based on the ascertained signal representing one or both of the resonance frequency and Q value.
