    Abstract: The invention relates to a jack assembly (62a) including a jack mount with a jack receiving region. A jack is adapted to be slidably mounted in the jack receiving region. The jack includes a jack body (70a) formed of a dielectric material and a plurality of electrically conductive tip and ring springs. The jack body defines a plurality of bores (106a,108a,110a,112a) sized to receive plugs (116a) having tip and ring contacts. The jack assembly further includes a plurality of cross-connect contacts and a rear interface assembly including a dielectric support. A plurality of rear connectors project outward from the dielectric support, and a circuit board is positioned between the jack mount and the dielectric support. The circuit board provides connections between the cross-connect contacts and the normal contacts. An electrical interface between the jack and the circuit board is configured such that when the jack is removed from the jack mount, the jack is automatically disconnected from the circuit board.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an insert for a jack. The insert includes a connector mount having a main body including a first side positioned opposit e from a second side. The connector mount also includes a snap-fit connection structure positioned at the main body for securing the connector mount to th e jack, a divider positioned at the first side of the main body, and an insulation displacement terminal housing positioned at the first side of the main body. A plurality of contact springs are separated by the divider, and a plurality of insulation displacement terminals are housed by the insulation displacement terminal housing. The insert further includes a circuit board that provides electrical connections between the insulation displacement terminals and the contact springs. The circuit board is mounted at the secon d side of the main body. Some electrical connectors position the contacts in a manner to reduce crosstalk problems. An insert assembly positions the spring contacts within a jack for electrical contact with the contacts of a plug. T he insert assembly staggers the relative positions of adjacent spring contacts in the y-direction, and staggers the spring contact pivot points in the x- direction, yet maintains a common contact region for all the spring contacts for contacting the contacts of the plug. The distal ends of alternating spri ng contacts are positioned so as to increase the isolation between adjacent springs. The insert assembly includes selected air passages between spring contacts mounted to the insert assembly to increase isolation and selected dielectric to increase crosstalk cancellation.

    Abstract: A modular jack assembly for connecting and switching computer network cables. The jack assembly includes at least one jack module (48) with two set of connectors (54) for linking wires from cables to the module and at least one jack (20). The modules within jack assembly slide between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the two sets of connectors linked to cables are electrically connected to each other, allowing normal through signal transmission.
