Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a spray gun for electrostatic coating which is safe and easy to use by a worker, is excellent in productivity and economy and can contribute to spread of active utilization of a water-base paint eventually leading to solution of environmental problems. SOLUTION: The external electrification electrostatic coating spray gun has an atomizer disposed at the tip of a spray gun barrel and a high-voltage generator behind the same and is provided with an external electrification electrode by projecting the electrode, separated from the route for the coating material supplied to the atomizer by maintaining electrical insulation therefrom and connected to the high-voltage output part of the high-voltage generator, toward a fore position evading the outer mist flow of the atomizer. The spray gun is provided with a contact terminal connected to the output section of the high-voltage generator within the above barrel at least on ≥1/4 part of the circumference around the atomizer axis. The contact end of the external electrode formed of an insulation material over the entire part is exposed at the front end electrode at one end and exposed at a contact end at the other end is connected to the contact terminal and isfixable in this position. Also, the spray gun is provided with connecting positions of the external electrode circumferentially around the spraying axis. And also, the spray gun is provided with a means which makes the connecting positions of the external electrode rotatable around the axis of spraying of the atomizer. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provided an electrostatic coating spray gun excellent in operability and employing low voltage system for improving safety and for more miniaturization, the spray gun having been demanded since there are many problems in which an electrically conductive coating material causes a problem when electrified directly, consequently an external electrode system of indirect electrification is generally used however such system brings about a practical problem in handleability and safety when miniaturized. SOLUTION: The electrostatic coating spray gun is constituted in such a way that an atomizer is arranged at the distal end of the spray gun to atomize the coating material discharged from a coating material nozzle arranged in the central part of the atomizer and the atomized coating material is applied to the objected to be coated while applying high-voltage static electricity to particles of the atomized coating material, wherein the potential of coating material side of the spray gun is set to be ground potential, a charging electrode as an external electrode is arranged on the outside surface or inside surface of an air cap and a compressed air flow passage is formed between a coating material jetting spout of the ground potential and the charging electrode. A discharge from the electrode to the coating material side (grounded side) is restrained in charging by compressed air, so that required potential is maintained, ionized discharging is efficiently performed and particles of the coating material are electrified. As a result, since a potential drop is prevented, the voltage necessary for electrifying particles of the coating material can be lowered. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve safety and handleability by constituting an external electrode which maintains a high voltage by adequately limiting the electric current to a paint to be supplied in such a manner that the electrode is made attachable and detachable by maintaining the insulation from an atomizer which is a ground potential side in the case of electrostatic coating of the conductive paint. SOLUTION: On the outer side of a spray gun having the atomizer at its tip, an external electrode body which consists of an insulation material over the entire part and has the electrode projected at its tip is freely attachably and detachably provided on a high-voltage output part of the gun body so as to be made easily exchangeable. The attaching and detaching section is set so that a distance at which a juncture with a high-voltage output end through a current-limiting high resistance reaches an outside surface exposure section can be sufficiently taken. The above section can be made to maintain safety and can be made shorter by providing the same with a turning over section. Further, the electrode body itself is simplified and is made exchangeable with a single action of exchange and in addition, the electrode body is configured of a flexible and elastic material for the purpose of failure prevention.
