    Abstract: A method comprising: at an electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface: obtaining a collection of media items, wherein the media items are organized into a hierarchy of granularity levels that includes one or more detailed-granularity levels within one or more overview-granularity levels; receiving a first request to display a first portion of the collection organized in accordance with a first detailed-granularity level; in response to receiving the first request, displaying a first plurality of representations of the media items wherein: the first plurality of representations are displayed at a detailed-granularity size; and the first plurality of representations are spaced apart from each other by a detailed-granularity distance; while displaying the first plurality of representations of the media items at the first detailed-granularity level, spaced apart from each other by the detailed-granularity distance, receiving a second request to display a second portion of the collection organized in accordance with a respective overview-granularity level; in response to receiving the second request, displaying a second plurality of representations of the media items wherein: the second plurality of representations are displayed at an overview-granularity size, smaller than the detailed-granularity size; and adjacent representations of media items in the second plurality of representations of media items are displayed without spacing between the adjacent representations of media items; while displaying the first plurality of representations at the detailed-granularity size, which is above a minimum object-selection size, respond to a predefined gesture, at a location on the touch sensitive surface corresponding to an individual representation of a respective media item in the first plurality of representations, by performing a first action that includes selection of the respective media item; and while displaying the second plurality of representations at the overview-granularity size, which is below the minimum object-selection size, respond to the predefined gesture, at a location on the touch-sensitive surface corresponding to an individual representation of a media item in the second plurality of representations, by performing an action different from the first action.

    Abstract: Abstract Systems and methods for improving automatic selection of keeper images from a commonly captured set of images are described. A combination of image type identification and image quality metrics may be used to identify one or more images in the set as keeper images. Image type identification may be used to categorize the captured images into, for example, three or more categories. The categories may include portrait, action, or "other." Depending on the category identified, the images may be analyzed differently to identify keeper images. For portrait images, an operation may be used to identify the best set of faces. For action images, the set may be divided into sections such that keeper images selected from each section tell the story of the action. For the "other" category, the images may be analyzed such that those having higher quality metrics for an identified region of interest are selected.
