Abstract:
In a computer-implemented method at least a portion of a structured electronic document comprising content is displayed on a touch screen display of a portable electronic device. A gesture is detected on an item of inline multimedia content in the displayed portion of the structured electronic document. In response, the item of inline multimedia content on the touch screen display is enlarged and display of other content in the structured electronic document besides the enlarged item of inline multimedia content is ceased. A gesture on a play icon is detected. In response, the enlarged item of inline multimedia content is played.
Abstract:
In one aspect of the invention, a computer-implemented method in a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display includes: displaying content on the touch screen display, wherein the content includes a plurality of user input elements; detecting a contact by a finger with the touch screen display; choosing a user input element in the plurality of user input elements based on proximity of the user input element to the contact; displaying information associated with the chosen user input element over the displayed content; detecting a break in the contact by the finger with the touch screen display; and receiving input for the chosen user input element.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and graphical user interfaces for viewing multiple application windows are disclosed. In one embodiment, a portable electronic device with a touch screen display: displays an application, which includes a displayed window and at least one hidden window; displays an icon for adding windows to the application; detects activation of the icon for adding windows; in response to detecting activation of the icon for adding windows, adds a window to the application; detects a gesture on the touch screen display; and, in response to detecting the gesture, moves a displayed window in the application off the display and moves a hidden window onto the display.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with a computing device with a touch screen display comprises: detecting one or more finger contacts with the touch screen display, applying one or more heuristics to the one or more finger contacts to determine a command for the device, and processing the command. The one or more heuristics comprise: a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a one- dimensional vertical screen scrolling command, a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a two-dimensional screen translation command, and a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a command to transition from displaying a respective item in a set of items to displaying a next item in the set of items.
Abstract:
A portable electronic device, comprising: a touch screen display; one or more processors; memory; and one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for: displaying at least a portion of a structured electronic document on the touch screen display, wherein the structured electronic document comprises a plurality of boxes of content; detecting a first gesture at a location on the displayed portion of the structured electronic document; determining a first box in the plurality of boxes at the location of the first gesture, the first box having a first size; enlarging and translating the structured electronic document so that the first box is substantially centered on the touch screen display at a second size greater than the first size; while the first box is enlarged, detecting a second gesture on the enlarged first box; and in response to detecting the second gesture, reducing in size the displayed portion of the structured electronic document.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer-readable media for a location information server to gather location updates by sending location-update-requests through a push notification service to a mobile device are disclosed. The mobile device provides location updates in response to the push-based location-update-requests received through the push notification service. The mobile device can switch from a self-initiated location update mode to a push-based location update mode depending on the current state of the mobile device. The mobile device can also choose an appropriate positioning system for self-locating based on the information embedded in the location-update-request received through the push notification service.; The information embedded in the pushed location-update-request can be a precision requirement or context information that can be used to determine a precision requirement for the location update.
Abstract:
A plurality of icons are displayed on a touch-sensitive display. A respective icon in at least a subset of the plurality of icons corresponds to two or more symbols. A contact by a user with the touch-sensitive display that corresponds to the respective icon is detected. A respective symbol in the two or more symbols to which the contact further corresponds is determined. The displayed respective icon is modified to indicate that the contact corresponds to the respective symbol.
Abstract:
A method, comprising: at an electronic device in communication with a display and one or more input devices: displaying, on the display, a user interface including: a plurality of selectable user interface elements associated with different modes of transportation, including a first selectable user interface element associated with a first mode of transportation, and a second selectable user interface element associated with a second mode of transportation, different than the first mode of transportation; a map overlaid with first route information for a first route from a first location to a second location, wherein the first route is associated with the first mode of transportation; and a selectable start button for initiating navigation along the first route using the first mode of transportation; while displaying the user interface on the display, receiving, via the one or more input devices, input selecting the second selectable user interface element associated with the second mode of transportation; in response to receiving the input: updating the user interface to include the map overlaid with second route information for a second route, different than the first route, from the first location to the second location, wherein the second route is associated with the second mode of transportation; and updating the selectable start button to be for initiating navigation along the second route using the second mode of transportation.
Abstract:
One or more touch input signals can be obtained from a touch sensitive device. A touch event model can be used to determine touch and/or gesture events based on the touch input signals. The touch and gesture events can be associated with touch input signals generated from different regions of a web page displayed on the touch sensitive device. Access can be provided to at least one touch or gesture event through a programming interface.
