Abstract: A wireless power system has a wireless power transmitting device and a wireless power receiving device. The wireless power transmitting device may be a wireless charging mat or other device with a charging surface. The wireless power receiving device may be a portable electronic device receiving transmitted wireless power signals from the wireless power transmitting device while resting on the charging surface. A sensor in the wireless power transmitting device or elsewhere in the system may detect user input. In response to the user input, the wireless power receiving device may display information on the state of charge of a battery in the wireless power receiving device and other charging status information on a display of the wireless power receiving device. The user input may be a finger tap on the charging surface or other user input.

Abstract: A wireless power system has a wireless power transmitting device and a wireless power receiving device. The wireless power transmitting device uses a wireless power transmitting coil to transmit wireless power signals to the wireless power receiving device. The wireless power transmitting device determines whether an external object is present. The external object may be a foreign object such as a coin or paperclip or may be a wireless power receiving device. External objects are detected using quality-factor measurements. Wireless communications are used to discriminate between foreign objects and wireless power receiving devices. Quality factor measurements may be compensated for aging and temperature effects using temperature measurements and compensation factors based on frequency and measured resistance.

Abstract: A wireless power system may include a wireless power transmitting device and a wireless power receiving device. The wireless power transmitting device may have a wired connection to an audiovisual electronic device. When the wireless power receiving device is attached to the wireless power transmitting device, the audiovisual electronic device may enter a paired mode with the wireless power receiving device. In the paired mode, the wireless power receiving device may control a user interface of the audiovisual electronic device. If the wireless power receiving device is not yet authorized for a paired mode with the audiovisual electronic device, a request for authorization may be displayed for the user in response to the wireless power receiving device being attached to the wireless power transmitting device.
