Abstract: The invention relates to copolymers containing a) from 20 to 90% of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulphonic acid, sulphoethyl or sulphopropyl (meth)acrylate or vinylsulphonic acid, b) from 0 to 50% of a vinylically unsaturated acid, c) from 0 to 70% of methyl or ethyl acrylate or methacrylate, C2- to C4-hydroxyalkyl acrylate or N-vinylpyrrolidone, and d) from 0.1 to 10% of styrene or C4- to C18-alkyl acrylate or C4- to C18-alkyl methacrylate. The copolymers according to the invention are particularly suitable as protective colloids in microencapsulation.
