    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the continuous production of copolyamides which are based on a lactame (I), a diamine (II) and a dicarboxylic acid (III). The inventive method is characterised in that a mixture (IV) containing a diamine (II), a dicarboxylic acid (III) and water is converted to a polymer in a first reaction area at a pressure of 1,3*105 to 2,5*105 Pa in the entry part of the reaction area, at a temperature above th e melting point of the polymer (V) and with a degree of conversion of at least 80 % in relation to the molar quantities of diamine (II) and dicarboxylic ac id (III), in that a mixture (VI) containing lactame (I) and water is converted to a polymer (VII) in a second reaction area at a pressure of 5*105 to 40*105 P a, at a temperature above the melting point of the polymer (VII) and with a degree of conversion of at least 80 % in relation to the molar quantity of lactame (I), in that polymer (V) and polymer (VII) are then reacted with eac h other in a third reaction area at a pressure of 1*105 to 1,5*105 Pa in the entry part of the reaction area, at temperatures above the melting temperatu re of the polymer (VIII), to produce the polymer (VIII). Polymer (VIII) contain s a maximum of 10 wt. % constituents that are extractable with water at a temperature of 95 ~C, inrelation to lactame (I), diamine (II) and dicarboxylic acid (III). The polymer (VIII) is then extracted with water so as to obtain the copolyamide. The invention also relates to copolyamides obtain ed using this method and to their use in the production of fibres, sheet structures and moulded bodies which are based on these copolyamides.

    Abstract: The prodn. of high-mol. wt. polyamides from nitriles comprises (a) polymerisation of amino-nitriles of formula H2N(CH2)mCN (I) or mixts. of diamines (II) with dinitriles (III) in a mole ratio of (0.98:1)-(1.02:1) to give a prepolymer (A) with a rel. viscosity (1% in conc. H2SO4 at 23 deg.C) of 1.4-2.0: H2N-(CH2)m-CN (I) H2N-(CH2)n-NH2 (II) NC-(CH2)q-CN (III) m, n, p = 2-12; followed by (b) granulation and (c) solid-phase post-condensation at 5-100 deg.C below the m.pt. of the prepolymer in presence of an inert gas contg. at least 50 vol.% superheated steam, to give a high-mol. wt. polyamide (B) with a rel. viscosity of 2.3-5.0, the difference between the rel. viscosities of (A) and (B) being at least 0.4. Also claimed are (i) high-mol. wt. polyamides (B) as obtd. by this process; (ii) mouldings, film and fibres produced from these polyamides.

    Abstract: The invention concerns multilayered biaxially stretched and thermoset tubular films composed of an inner layer (A) comprising at least one thermoplastic copolyamide as an essential component, at least one intermediate layer (B) which is composed of a polyolefin homo- or copolymer, and an outer layer (C) which is composed of at least one thermoplastic polyamide as an essential component. The tubular films are characterized in that the layer thickness ratio of (C) : (A) is between 5 : 1 and 2 : 1.
