    Abstract: The invention comprises water-soluble dyes of the formula in which R is a benzene radical having attached by way of nitrogen a group capable of reacting with hydroxyl groups of cellulose to form a covalent bond and which benzene radical may have further substituents. Groups reactive with cellulose are listed and include chlorotriazinyl and acrylyl groups and propionyl groups substituted in beta position by chlorine, phenylsulphonyl and dichloropyridazonyl groups. The dyes are made by reacting an aminothiophenol with an acylating agent and then with 1-amino-4-bromoanthraquinone-2-sulphonic acid, or by reacting the latter with the aminothiophenol and then, if desired, after sulphonation, with the acylating agent, the acylating agent in each case containing the group reactive with cellulose. The dyes dye and print textile materials of cellulose and natural or synthetic polyamides in violet shades. Specification 867,571 is referred to.

    Abstract: New and valuable herbicide comprising 1-phenyl-4-amino-5-chloro (or -5-bromo)-pyridazone-(6) which contains from 10 to 65 weight % of the active ingredient in the form of an aqueous suspension and, as dispersant, a condensation product of sulfonated phenols free from condensed ring systems with urea and formaldehyde in a molar ratio of 1:1 to 1.5:1.7 to 2.2, which condensation product has been after-treated with phenols and formaldehyde. The dispersion is extremely stable, even after prolonged storage periods. It can be readily mixed with other plant protection agents upon dilution. No dust problems occur when the spray liquors are prepared for use.

    Abstract: A water-dispersible powder or paste preparation of a water-insoluble dye contains at least one sodium salt of a water-soluble condensation product of (I) a naphthalene monosulphonic acid or derivative thereof and formaldehyde or (II) a mononuclear aromatic compound capable of reacting with 2 moles of formaldehyde, a napthol sulphonic acid, formaldehyde and optionally sodium sulphite, the content of inorganic salt in said preparation being less than 5%, preferably 0.5% by weight of compound (I) or (II). Products (I) and (II) may be prepared free from salts from the start by a conventional method or the conventional industrial product may be freed from salts by dialysis, ion exchange, electrolysis or precipitation with organic liquids. The preparations may also contain urea or thiourea as dispersion assistants. Suitable dyes are vat or disperse dyes. The preparations may be prepared by grinding, kneading or spray drying. Suitable products (I) and (II) are specified and examples are given.
