Abstract: Azo pigments have the formula (I): where r is H, Cl or Br, ar' is arylene, Y has the formula -CONH- or -NHCO and Ar2 is substd. aryl which is free from COOH and sulphonamide gps. I can be used to colour spinning compsns, e.g. of viscose, in printing pastes for book or offset printing, in lacquers, contg. nitrocellulose, acrylates, melamine or alkyds, to colour phenoplasts and aminoplasts and thermoplasts such as polystyrene, polyalkenes or PVC, in gums or polysiloxane resins, in laminate papers and in textile printing. I have high resistance to light, weathering wind and migration.

Abstract: 1361870 Pigmented polymer compositions BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 3 Dec 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 56175/71 Headings C3P and C3R [Also in Division C4] Application Example 1 describes a coating composition containing by weight 5 parts of the pigment and 95 parts of a baking lacquer mixture, e.g. containing 70 parts of a 60% solution of coconut alkyd resin in xylene, and 30 parts of a 55% solution of melamine resin in a mixture of butanol and xylene. Titanium dioxide may be added. Application Example 2 describes coloration of 100 parts by weight polystyrene with 0À05 parts of the pigment or with 0À2 parts thereof and 1À0 parts of titanium diomide.
