Abstract: Non-combustible insulating material having high resistance to fire over long periods and a density of 80-230 g/l comprises (A) 99-80% of an inorganic light particulate material of ave. particle size 0.05-3 mm and a bulk density of 30-150 g/l, and (B) 0-40% of fibrous or spherical inorganic additives. The particles are bonded together with (C) 1-20% of a temp. stable high mol. wt. binder with a permanent operational temp. of >100 degrees C according to DIN 53446. The material has good mechanical props. and does not produce any combustible or toxic gas on burning. It can be bonded with the usual covering layers, e.g. asbestos cement metal sheet, plaster board, and may also be used as a sandwich element. It can be applied to walls, floors and ceilings and may be used as heat-insulation in storage - or cold rooms.
