There is now provided a sealant and elastomer made with a polyol having an unsaturation level of 0.04 to 0.07, manufactured with a basic salt of an alkaline earth metal or a basic salt of cesium, such as cesium hydroxide. The elastomers and sealants made therefrom exhibit an increasing modulus of elasticity when strained from 100 percent elongation to 300 percent elongation. The reduced unsaturation polyols are simple and inexpensive to make while imparting good physical properties to the sealants and elastomers.

The method of the invention provides for improvement of a plant growth factor by applying an ethylene inhibitor plant growth regulator to a plant, such as cotton or soybean, at a low rate. Specific plant growth regulators include compounds covered by general formula (I) or (II), where R and R independently of one another are C1-C6-alkyl, n is 2 or 3 and R is hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl. Specific compounds employed by the method of the invention include {[isopropylidene)-amino]oxy}-acetic acid-2-(methoxy)-2-oxoethyl ester, {[isopropylidene)-amino]oxy}-acetic acid-2-(hexyloxy)-2-oxoethyl ester, {cyclohexylidene)-amino]oxy}-acetic acid-2-(isopropyloxy)-2-oxyethyl ester, [(isopropylidene)-amino]oxy acetic acid and aminooxyacetic acid.

Specifically provided is a method of promoting seed germination comprising administering to a seed a plant growth regulator comprising a substituted oxime-ether of formula (I) or (II) where R1 and R2 independently of one another are C1-C6-alkyl, n is 2 or 3 and R3 is hydrogen or C1-C6-alkyl wherein said plant growth regulator is applied at a low temperature.

There is now provided a method for making a polyisocyanate based rigid closed cell foam made by reacting an organic isocyanate with a polyol composition made up of at least: a) an aromatic amine initiated polyoxyalkylene polyether polyol having a hydroxyl number of 200 meq polyol/g KOH or more; b) an aliphatic amine initiated polyoxyalkylene polyether polyol having a hydroxyl number of 200 meq polyol/g KOH or more in an amount of 10 weight percent or less based on the weight of the polyol composition; and c) cyclopentane, wherein the cyclopentane is dissolved in the polyol composition. The organic isocyanate and the polyol composition are reacted at an isocyanate index ranging from 80 to less than 150, and throughout this isocyanate index range, the resulting foam has a substantially constant k-factor and is dimensionally stable.

A coating composition is described comprising a polymer resin binder and optically variable thin film pigment flakes. The pigment flakes have a multilayer thin film interference structure comprising a metal reflector layer having first and second parallel planar surfaces and, disposed on at least one of said first and second planar surfaces, at least one transparent dielectric layer. The pigment flakes further have an average particle size of 5 to 40 mu m and a particle size distribution where no more than 10 % of the particles have a particle size of greater than 50 mu m and substantially none of the particles have a particle size of greater than 125 mu m. This coating composition can be used to prepare a variety of coatings, especially color-plus-clear composite coatings such as those used in the automotive industry.

The gelatin prior to hydrolysis has a molecular weight dispersity of not greater than 7.0. Additionally, the gelatin-based powder has at least one edible oil obtained from fat soluble vitamins and flavor oils, and especially vitamin E oil.
