Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing cis-2-(2-methyl-prop-1-ene-yl)-4-methyl-tetrahydropyrane, comprising the catalytic hydration of 2-(2-methyl-prop-1-ene-yl)-4-methylene-tetrahydropyrane in the presence of hydrogen and a heterogeneous catalyst, which comprises ruthenium on a carrier, and subsequently bringing the compounds thus obtained into contact with a strongly acid cation exchanger.
