Abstract: Articulating surgical instruments (2) are disclosed. In one embodiment, a surgical instrument (2) may include an elongated shaft assembly (6) including an articulable portion (8) moveable between a non-articulated configuration and an articulated configuration. First (32) and second (34) articulating shafts of the elongated shaft assembly (6) may be coaxially arranged and axially fixed at an attachment point located distally from the articulable portion. Proximal portions of the first (32) and second (34) articulating shafts may be displaceable in opposing directions to articulate the articulable portion (8) from the non-articulated configuration to the articulated configuration. In another embodiment, an articulation control (10) may be movable from a first position to a second position to move an articulation lock (36) from a locked configuration to an unlocked configuration to selectively permit articulation of a surgical instrument (2). The articulation lock (36) also may be movable from the second position to a third position to articulate the surgical instrument (2).

Abstract: A surgical instrument and its method of use are disclosed. In one embodiment, the surgical instrument may include a handle and an elongated shaft assembly extending distally from the handle. The elongated shaft assembly may include an articulable portion with an articulation direction. The elongated shaft assembly may also include a tubular member with a flexible portion with a preferential bending direction and a direction of bending resistance. The tubular member may permit articulation of the elongated shaft assembly when the preferential bending direction is aligned with the articulation direction.

Abstract: Embodiments of a surgical instrument and its methods of use are disclosed. The disclosed embodiments of a surgical instrument (2) may include a handle and an elongated shaft assembly distally extending from the handle. The elongated shaft assembly may include an articulable portion. An articulation control may be associated with the elongated shaft assembly. Abstract: Surgical instruments and their methods of use are disclosed. In some embodiments, the surgical instrument may include a handle and an elongated shaft assembly extending distally from the handle. The surgical instrument may also include a fastener deployment system for deploying fasteners from the elongated shaft assembly including a reciprocating driveshaft disposed within the elongated shaft assembly. Abstract: An instrument for applying one or more surgical fasteners includes a tubular shaft having a distal end through which each fastener is deployed. A delivery system is contained within the tubular shaft for advancing the surgical fasteners along, and out of, the instrument. An actuator is operatively associated with the delivery system. Abstract: A self-priming pulsatile surgical irrigation device is disclosed. The irrigation device comprises a housing, a variable volume pumping chamber liquid pump contained within the housing, and a self-priming valve system operatively associated with the liquid pump. Abstract: A deployment device for positioning a soft tissue repair prosthesis includes a self-expanding support body releasably attachable to the prosthesis. The support body may be removably insertable into a pocket of the prosthesis. A handle coupled to the support body facilitates positioning the patch and/or removal of the support body from the pocket. The support body may substantially occupy the pocket in an expanded configuration. The handle may be arranged to direct a pulling force to the outer peripheral edge of the support body and/or cause a portion thereof to be pulled downward and below the body during withdrawal of the deployment device from the prosthesis. The support body may include support segments pivotally coupled together and foldable to collapse the support body for insertion into and removal from the pocket. One or more resilient support members may be provided for collapsing and expanding the support body and the prosthesis.
