Abstract:
A plug locking assembly comprises a housing comprising a top surface, a bottom surface and opposing sidewalls defining an open space therebetween, the open space for receiving and carrying a plug comprising a spring member. The plug locking assembly is adapted to prevent unwanted access to modular plugs engaged in associated jacks. In one embodiment, the plug locking assembly comprises a plug protection member comprising a surface spaced apart from the open space and positioned to overlie at least a portion of the spring member with the plug engaged within the housing. The plug locking assembly may further comprise a locking clip releasably securable within the housing.
Abstract:
A communications connector with a flexible printed circuit board is provided. The flexible printed circuit board is electronically and mechanically connected to the plug interface contacts of the jack near the plug/jack interface, in order to provide effective crosstalk compensation. The flexible printed circuit board has fingers at one end allowing it to flex as individual plug interface contacts are depressed when a plug is installed into the jack. A second end of the flexible printed circuit board has through holes for accepting insulation displacement contacts. The second end of the flexible printed circuit board may be rigidly supported, to allow insertion of the insulation displacement contacts. Various designs for capacitive and/or inductive couplings are provided, resulting in improved crosstalk performance.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A communication jack, system using the jack, and method of fabricating the jack are disclosed. The jack includes a cavity configured to accept a communication plug to form a communication connector. The jack includes a plurality of plug interface contacts that extend into the cavity such that a plug inserted into the cavity makes electrical contact with the plug interface contacts at plug/jack interfaces of the plug interface contacts. One or more of the plug interface contacts is formed from multiple conductive layers. The conductive layers are movable relative to each other at at least one end. A dielectric layer or flexible printed circuit board may be disposed between the conductive layers.
Abstract:
A communications connector with a flexible printed circuit board (34) is provided. The flexible printed circuit board is electronically and mechanically connected to the plug interface contacts (24) of the jack near the plug/jack interface, in order to provide effective crosstalk compensation. The flexible printed circuit board has fingers at one end allowing it to flex as individual plug interface contacts are depressed when a plug is installed into the jack. The flexible printed circuit board, or a flexible portion of a printed circuit board, is provided with elongated extensions (42a-42b) for certain conductors to accommodate the connection of six- contact ox eight -contact plugs to the connector.
Abstract:
A revision system for a network having a plurality of data ports, pairs of the data ports being connectable by a patch cord to place the pairs of data ports into communication with each other, the revision system including a computer processor, a plurality of port plates corresponding to and disposed proximately to at least a plurality of the data ports, a scanner in communication with the computer processor, the scanner capable of polling at least some of the port plates for determining information therefrom, a plurality of local system ports disposed at distinct physical locations within the system, the local system ports being in communication with the computer processor, and a probe for connecting to respective ones of the plurality of local system ports and respective ones of the plurality of port plates, whereby when the probe is connected to one of the local system ports and one of the port plates, the probe displays information about corresponding ones of the data ports in the system.
