Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition which does not form any corrosive or noxious gases when decomposed, does not deteriorate in physical properties and has high flame retardancy by adding specified components to a styrene resin. CONSTITUTION: This flame-retardant resin composition comprises 100 pts.wt. styrene resin (A), 10-60 pts.wt. melamine phosphate, (B), 5-30 pts.wt. polyhydric alcohol (C) and 0-20 pts.wt. silicone oil (D). Alternatively, this flame-retardant resin composition comprises components A to D, 0.01-10 pts.wt. molybdenum compound (E), 0.1-20 pts.wt. flame-retardant phosphate compound (F) and 0.01-10 pts.wt. fluorinated polyolefin. Component B is a compound represented by the formula (wherein n is 0.5-3). Component C is an acyclic or cyclic compound having a plurality of bonded hydroxyl groups. Component D is desirably a polydimethylsiloxane having a viscosity of about 90,000-150,000cP at 25 deg.C.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition which can give a product improved in heat resistance, impact resistance, and flame retardancy by mixing an aromatic polycarbonate with a styrene resin, a specified phosphoric ester compound, and an organophosphorus compound. SOLUTION: This composition is prepared by mixing 100 pts.wt., in total, 40-95 wt.% (A) aromatic polycarbonate and 60-5 wt.% (B) styrene resin with 5-50 pts.wt. (C) phosphoric ester of formula I (wherein R to R are each pheny which may contain a 1-4C alkyl), 0.5-30 pts.wt. (D) organophosphorus compound of formula II or III (wherein R and R are each an aryl which may contain one to three 1-4C alkyl groups; and R and R are each a 1-10C linear or branched alkyl, phenyl, or an alkylphenyl which has one to three 1-5C alkyl groups), and optionally, 0.05-5 pts.wt. (E) fluororesin, and 0.1-20 pts.wt. (F) polyphenylene ether resin in such amounts that PD/PC is 2 or below (not inclusive of 0) (wherein PD is the phosphorus concentration of component D, and PC is the phosphorus concentration of component C).

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an antibacterial resin composition excellent in transparency by mixing a transparent thermoplastic resin with a finely divided inorganic antibacterial and a lubricant in specified ratios. CONSTITUTION: This transparent antibacterial resin composition is prepared by mixing 100 pts.wt. transparent thermoplasatic resin (A) with 0.05-10 pts.wt. inorganic antibacterial (B) having a mean particle diameter of 1μm or below and 0.01-10 pts.wt. lubricant (C). Antibacterials which impart antibacterial properties to resins are largely classified into two organic and inorganic types. The latter is generally used because the former has drawbacks in heat resistance, durability and safety. However, there is a tendency for the transparency to be markedly deteriorated even in use where transparency is necessary due to the difference between the densities of an inorganic antibacterial and a resin, its low affinity for the resin, etc. By using antibacterial B, (e.g. antibacterials carrying silver/silver ions or copper/copper ions or other various metal/metal ion antibacterials), the composition can be used as a material which needs to prevent the outbreak and propagation of bacteria.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a flame-retardant resin composition evolving neither a corrosive gas nor a poisonous gas, causing no reduction in physical characteristics during thermal decomposition, by blending a styrenic resin with a specific organic phosphorus compound with a carbonization additive and a silicone oil. CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by blending (A) 100 pts.wt. of a styrenic resin (e.g. polystyrene or ABS resin) with (B) 10-50 pts.wt. of an organic phosphorus compound of formula I (X is H; Y is a group of formula II; (n) is 0.1-2), (C) 5-30 pts.wt. of a carbonization additive (e.g. pentaerythritol) and (D) 0.1-20 pts.wt. of a silicone oil (preferably a polydimethylsiloxane having 90,000-150,000 centipoise viscosity at 25 deg.C). The component B is preferably obtained by synthesis from pentaerythritol, phosphorus oxychloride and melamine.
