Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an alicyclic diisocyanate composition for extremely activating a urethanization reaction, containing no impurity, capable of providing a polyurethane having improved weather resistance, etc., by including an alicyclic diisocyanate compound containing a fixed amount of a protonic acid as a main component. SOLUTION: This composition comprises an alicyclic diisocyanate compound of formula I (Y1 is a bifunctional saturated hydrocarbon, preferably a 1-10C alkylene) (e.g. 3-isocyanatomethyl-5,5-dimethylcyclohexyl isocyanate) containing a protonic acid (preferably a saturated organic acid) as a main component. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a dialkyl carbonate prepared without using phosgene with an alicyclic diamine of formula II. The amount of the protonic acid added to the alicyclic diisocyanate compound of formula I is preferably 1×10-7 to 1×10-1 equivalent based on 1 equivalent of NCO group.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain the subject compound that is useful as a synthetic intermediate for medicines and agricultural chemicals by reaction between a dialdehyde and a diol at a specific ratio followed by the reaction of the resultant dialdehyde bisacetal with the dialdehyde. SOLUTION: In the first step, (A) a dialdehyde of formula I (R is a hydrocarbon residual group), for example, glutaraldehyde or the like, is allowed to react with a double or more molar amount, based on the component (A), of a diol of the formula: HO-R -OH (R is a hydrocarbon residual group), for example, ethylene glycol preferably in the presence of an acid catalyst such as a cationic ion-exchange resin or the like, preferably at 30-150 deg.C to form (C) a dialdehyde bisacetal of formula II, for example, glutaraldehyde bisacetal. In the second step, the product (C) is allowed to react with anhydrous component A preferably in the presence of the same catalyst as in the first step at the same reaction temperature as in the first step to give the objective compound of formula III.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively prevent acrolein from polymerizing in producing, etc., the acrolein useful as a raw material, etc., for producing organic compounds by the coexistence of a polymerization inhibitor and oxalic acid in an aqueous solution of the acrolein containing iron ions dissolved therein. CONSTITUTION:A reactional gas containing acrolein after carrying out the vapor-phase oxidation of propylene is cooled with a large amount of water and the produced acrolein is simultaneously absorbed in water to provide an aqueous solution of the acrolein containing iron ions dissolved therein. A polymerization inhibitor such as hydroquinone, hydroquinone monomethyl ether, benzoquinone, p-nitrosophenol, p-aminophenol, m-dinitrobenzene, phenothiazine or Methylene Blue and oxalic acid are then added to coexist in the aqueous solution. Thereby, the acrolein is effectively prevented from polymerizing in a process for producing the acrolein important as a raw material for producing methionine, acrylic acid derivatives and other organic compounds.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound in high yield by reacting a primary amine with a carbonic acid diester in the presence of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal alcoholate as a catalyst, treating the crude reaction product with an acid type cation exchange resin to remove the catalyst and thermally decomposing. CONSTITUTION:A primary amine (e.g. isophorone diamine) is reacted with a carbonic acid diester (e.g. dimethyl carbonate) in the presence of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal alcoholate (e.g. sodium methylate) as a catalyst, the prepared crude reaction solution is treated with an acid type cation exchange resin (e.g. one prepared by bonding an acid group such as carboxylic acid group to polystyrene skeleton), the alcoholate catalyst eluted in the solution is separated and removed and then the solution is thermally decomposed to give an isocyanate. The used resin is treated with an acid and can be reused. This method is industrially advantageous because phosgene is not used. The isocyanate is used as a raw material for producing urethane, drugs, agricultural chemicals, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance exhibiting pharmacological activities such as analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic actions, in high yield, by reacting an alpha-phenylethyl alcohol derivative with carbon dioxide using a specific solvent produced by mixing a hydrocarbon with an oxygen-containing organic compound. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula II is produced by reacting an alpha-phenyl alcohol derivative of formula I (R is H, alkyl, alkenyl or aryl) with carbon monoxide usually at 30-130 deg.C, preferably at 60-100 deg.C under atmospheric pressure - 100kg/cm in a solvent produced by mixing a hydrocarbon with an oxygen-containing organic compound, in the presence of a catalyst (preferably a transition metal compound) preferably using a rhodium compound as a catalyst and iodine as a cocatalyst. The hydrocarbon used in the above solvent is pentane, benzene, etc., and the oxygen-containing organic compound is acetic acid, etc. The ratio of the solvent components is e.g. preferably 2/98-30/70 by volume in the case of acetic acid/hexane.

Water is added to the reaction solution in the presence of zinc iodide, the reaction solution is separated into two phases of a reaction product phase and a hydrous phase. The catalyst in the hydrous phase is repeatedly used to give the aimed compound useful as analgesic, etc., industrially advantageously. Since the zinc iodide prevents insoluble rhodium from precipitating, makes operation of the phase separation easy and has no bad influence on carbonylation activity of the catalyst at all, the separated catalyst can be returned to the reaction state directly in the state of the mixture with zinc iodide and circulated and used efficiently.

The deactivated catalyst may be the copper catalyst deactivated in a process for producing aldehyde by dehydrogenating alcohol. The deactivated catalyst can be oxidized directly by the oxygen-containing gas without being subjected to oil removal treatment using a solvent or pretreatment using the hydrogen-containing gas. The reduction treatment using the hydrogen-containing gas can be performed in a gas phase.
