Abstract:
An apparatus is designed to treat the effluent from a commercial laundry facility. Commercial laundry facilities produce typically a relatively clean effluent produced by washing clothing, towels and the like. The same laundry facility can also produce an oily effluent from washing shop towels, mops and the like. The effluent produced by the commercial laundry is all subjected to a particulate filtration and heat exchanger. The nonoily effluent is then directed to the sanitary drain. The oily effluent is treated with a demulsifier to break down the oil/water emulsion and is subsequently transferred to a oil/water separator. This permits the capacity of the oil/water separator to be approximately 1/3 to 1/4 of that which would be required to treat all effluent in the laundry.
Abstract:
A high pH concentrate which upon dilution with water forms a lubricant composition for use in lubricating conveyor track, said concentrate having a pH of 7 to 11 comprising the following components: (a) (i) an alkylamine dicarboxylate compound of general formula (I), wherein R1 is a C8 to C18 saturated or unsaturated alkyl group, including mixtures of such alkyl groups, n is an integer of from 1 to 12, preferably n is 2, and each of M1 and M2, which may be the same or different, independently represents hydrogen or a Group I metal, typically sodium or potassium, and with the proviso that the distribution of alkyl chain lengths of the group R1 is such that components (a) and (b) remain in solution; and/or (ii) a compound of general formula (II), wherein R1 is a C8 to C18 alkyl group as defined above, R2 represents hydrogen or -(CH2)m -OH wherein m is an integer of from 2 to 12, and each of Y1 and Y2 which may be the same or different, is independently selected from -CH2 OH, -COO M3 and -CH2COO M3 , wherein M3 is hydrogen or a Group I metal, typically sodium or potassium; (b) a cyclic imidazoline of general formula (III), wherein R3 is a C7 to C20 saturated or unsaturated alkyl group; and (c) a C12 to C18 saturated or unsaturated alkyl sulphonate anionic surfactant, and (d) optionally, a pH reducing agent to provide said pH in the range of 7 to 11.
Abstract:
A dispenser for filling with a liquid a container of a predetermined profile comprises a support (1) for the container to be filled; a plurality of sources (12) of different liquids; valve means (23) regulating the flow of liquid from the sources into the container; a series of keys (20) on the support, each key being moveable between at least two positions; switch means (21) actuated by the respective keys; and control means (22) connected between the switch means and the valve means. On mounting of a particular container on the support, the keys are moved in a predetermined way by the container's predetermined profile and the control means in response to the keys being moved fills the correct liquid into the container.
Abstract:
The present invention is an improved flow-metered pumping system using an air-backed diaphragm pump with load compensation. A variable motor speed controller is used to compensate for flow rate reduction caused by pressure effects. When the output pressure on the pump increases to a point where the load on the pump motor exceeds a specified threshold, the motor speed controller increases the speed of the motor to compensate for pressure induced diaphragm distortion losses and to achieve a substantially constant flow rate across a range of pump output pressures.
Abstract:
A closure for allowing the emptying of the contents of a container comprises: a hollow closure member (1) for a container, the closure member having an outlet (2) for the contents; a rotatable plug (3) mounted within the closure member, the plug having a first through-passage (4) for the contents with an inlet (32) and an outlet (34), the plug being rotatable between a first closed position in which the inlet (32) of the through-passage is out of register with the closure member outlet (2) and a second position in which the inlet is in register with the closure member outlet to permit the contents to pass into the passageway; a connector (5) for transfer of the contents out of the container, the connector having means (7) to engage the exposed portion of the plug, and the connector (5) when engaged with the plug (3) can be turned to rotate the plug to the open position, or to the closed position.
Abstract:
A final rinse for a phosphatized metal surface includes a phosphoric acid solution including aluminum chlorohydrate. The aluminum chlorohydrate solution is applied at a concentration of about 100 to about 1500 ppm at a pH of 3 to about 4.5. The pH is obtained by controlling the concentration of the phosphoric acid. This is preferably used to coat previously phosphatized metal surfaces such as iron, steel, aluminum and galvanize.
Abstract:
The application describes a dispenser for dispensing a product, comprising a dispenser head (1') through which the product can be dispensed, withdrawal means to assist in the withdrawal of the product from a collapsible container (4') thereof, a substantially rigid container (2') above the dispenser head for holding the collapsible container and piercing means (18) at the base of the first mentioned container to open the collapsible container upon it being placed into the first mentioned container.
Abstract:
A machine dishwashing process for cleaning soiled crockery is provided. The process comprises: (1) optionally prewashing the crockery in a prewash zone; (2) washing the crockery in a wash zone with washing liquor; (3) spraying the crockery from the wash zone with a spraying solution; and (4) rinsing the crockery in a clear washing zone. The washing liquor includes used spraying solution from step (3). The spraying solution has an alkali content of at least 0.8 % by weight. An additive which is substantially free of alkali is supplied to the washing liquor to give a concentration in the washing liquor in the presence of the used spraying solution of at least 0.004 % by weight of complexing agent(s) and/or sequestering agent(s).
Abstract:
Detergent compositions are formed into tablets for dispensing. These tablets can be retained in a flexible plastic bag having a rigid opening and tapered midsection. The rigidity of the tablets enables the bag to retain its shape and prevent hydratable detergents from clogging up the dispenser. A preferred detergent formulation is a high-caustic detergent composition which includes a combination of sodium tripolyphosphate and sodium tripolyphosphate hexahydrate, defoaming surfactant, polycarboxylate and a processing and dissolution aid such as propylene glycol. This detergent composition, when tableted, provides an extremely uniform dissolution rate minimizing any temperature peaks that can occur in dispensing high-caustic detergent.
