Abstract: Multilayer thermoplastic stretch wrap film having substantial one-sided cling properties is made without the use of polymers with high levels of n-hexane extractables, dissimilar polymer chemistries, or low molecular weight tackifiers. The reverse or cling layer comprises at least one homogeneously branched ethylene polymer composition having a density of about 0.90 g/cc or less and the obverse or non-cling layer comprises an propylene or ethylene polymer composition having a density greater than 0.90 g/cc. The multilayer film is particularly useful for load palletization end-use applications.

Abstract: The subject invention provides a polymer mixture having high heat resistivity, low hexane extractive and controllably lower or higher modulus. The mixture is comprised of at least one first substantially linear ethylene polymer, Component (A), and at least one second ethylene polymer which is a homogeneously branched polymer, heterogeneously branched linear polymer or a non-short chain branched linear polymer. When fabricated into film, the mixture is characterized by a heat seal initiation temperature which is substantially lower than its Vicat softening point as well as a high ultimate hot tack strength. When fabricated as a molded article, the mixture is characterized by high microwave warp distortion while maintaining a lower modulus. The polymer mixture is particularly well-suited for use in multilayer film structures as a sealant layer for such applications as cook-in packages, hot-fill packages, and barrier shrink films. In molding applications, the mixture is well-suited as freezer-to-microwave food storage containers and lids which maintain good flexibility at low temperature to allow easy openability of such containers.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to structures and fabricated articles having shape/reshape behavior (and processes for their preparation) comprising; (A) from about 1 to 100 wt % (based on the combined weights of Components A and B) of at least one substantially random interpolymer having an I2 of 0.1 to about 1,000 g/10 min and an Mw/Mn of from about 1.5 to about 20, which comprises; (1) from about 38 to about 65 mol % of polymer units derived from; (a) at least one vinyl or vinylidene aromatic monomer, or (b) at least one hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer, or (c) a combination of at least one aromatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer and at least one hindered aliphatic or cycloaliphatic vinyl or vinylidene monomer, and (2) from about 35 to about 62 mol % of polymer units derived from ethylene and/or at least one C3-20 alpha -olefin; and (B) from 0 to about 99 wt % (based on the combined weights of Components A and B) of at least one polymer other than that of Component A; and (C) from 0 to about 50 % by weight (based on the combined weights of components A, B, C and D) of at least one tackifier; and (D) from 0 to about 80% by weight (based on the combined weights of components A, B, C and D) of at least one filler.

Abstract: The subject invention is directed to fibers and polymer blend compositions having improved bonding performance. In particular, the subject invention pertains to a multiconstituent fiber comprising a blend of a polypropylene polymer and a high molecular weight (i.e. low melt index or melt flow) ethylene polymer. The subject invention further pertains to the use of the fiber and polymer blend composition which has improved bonding performance in various end-use applications, especially woven and nonwoven fabrics such as, for example, disposable incontinence garments and diapers. The fibers have good spinnability and provide fabrics having improved bond strength and elongation.
