Abstract: A valve cover assembly comprising a valve cover (21) wherein the valve cover has a mating surface (26) adapted to e attached to a cylinder head (20) of an internal combustion engine having a continuous bead of adhesive (22) disposed on the mating surface (25). A method for bonding a valve cover (21) to a cylinder head (20) comprising a) applying to a valve cover (21) or a cylinder head (20), wherein the valve cover (21) has a mating surface adapted to be mated with a mating surface of a cylinder head, (25), a continuous bead (26) or film of adhesive (22) on the mating surface of the valve cover (26) or the cylinder head (25); b) contacting the mating surface of the valve cover (26) with the mating surface of the cylinder head (25) such the continuous bead or film of adhesive (22) is disposed between the mating surfaces of the valve cover (26) and the cylinder head (25); c) curing the adhesive (22) to form a permanent bond between the mating surfaces of the valve cover (26) and the cylinder head (25) wherein the adhesive forms a seal between the valve cover (21) and the cylinder head (20).
