Abstract:
The present invention provides dry mix compositions for use in making gypsum plasters or mortars comprising gypsum, preferably, phosphorous gypsum one or more retarder, and one or more crosslinked cellulose ethers containing polyether groups. The compositions enable the provision of gypsum dry mixes, such as those from phosphorus gypsum, that make gypsum mortars with less stickiness while reducing the amount of cellulose ether in the dry mix.
Abstract:
The present invention provides cementitious tile adhesives comprising ordinary Portland cement, sand or another inorganic filler, and from 0.12 to 0.6 wt. % of total solids of one or more polyether group containing crosslinked cellulose ethers. The present invention also provides methods of making the polyether group containing crosslinked cellulose ethers comprising crosslinking a cellulose ether at 90° C. or less, in an inert atmosphere, e.g. nitrogen, in the presence of a polyether group containing crosslinking agent and in the presence of alkali; the process may comprise part of a stepwise addition process of making of a cellulose ether itself in which the crosslinking of the cellulose ethers precedes at least one addition of alkyl halide or alkylene oxide to form, respectively, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups on the cellulose.
Abstract:
A process for producing a crosslinked cellulose ether including the steps of (i) contacting at least one cellulose material with a mixture comprising (ia) at least one crosslinking agent and (ib) at least one alkalization reagent to form an activated cellulose material; and (ii) contacting the activated cellulose material of step (i) with at least one etherification reagent; wherein the at least one etherification reagent reacts with the activated cellulose material to form the crosslinked cellulose ether; and a crosslinked cellulose ether produced by the above process.
Abstract:
A process for producing a crosslinked cellulose ether including contacting an activated cellulose material with (i) an aqueous crosslinking agent emulsion, wherein the aqueous crosslinking agent emulsion is a mixture of (ia) at least one crosslinking agent; (ib) water; and (ic) any other optional components desired; and (ii) at least one etherification reagent; wherein the aqueous crosslinking agent emulsion (i) and the at least one etherification reagent (ii) react with the activated cellulose material to form the crosslinked cellulose ether; and a crosslinked cellulose ether produced by the above process.
Abstract:
Provided is an oil composition comprising, by weight based on the weight of the composition, (a) 2-12% of one or more ethylcellulose polymers; (b) 2-12% of an additive selected from the group consisting of one or more fatty acids, one or more monoglycerides of fatty acids, one or more diglycerides of fatty acids, and mixtures thereof; (c) 2-12% of one or more starch; and (d) 64-94% of one or more oils. Also provided is a margarine-type composition and a puff pastry composition, both comprising ethylcellulose polymer, an additive (b), and starch.
Abstract:
Provided is a method of making an ethylcellulose oleogel comprising cooling a mixture of ethylcellulose polymer and oil from 100° C. to 35° C. at a rate of 0.6° C./min or slower.
Abstract:
A mixture of a cellulose derivative and a liquid diluent is prepared which comprises at least 5 weight percent of the cellulose derivative, based on the total weight of the cellulose derivative and the liquid diluent. The mixing operating causes air to be entrapped in the mixture. The time for at least partially removing entrapped air is reduced by providing a cellulose derivative having a specific surface area of less than 0.20 m2/g measured by BET method for preparing the mixture.
