Abstract: A knife edge for measurement instruments, esp. balances, has several independently movable knife edge carriers each consisting of two bearing plates(3, 4) arranged in a V-shape and fixed to a base by a spring wire support(11). It is a highly accurate edge bearing made simply and with low production and assembly costs. The wire support is a U-shaped wire yoke in a plane perpendicular to the edge. Its arms engage in holes bored in the bearing plate and its yoke section is screw clamped to the bearing block in a matching slot.
