    Abstract: The dimensionally stable composite material consists of a double fabric with spacer filaments. On both sides of the double fabric there is a plastics layers. Face and back fabric of the double fabric are linked with each other by means of incorporated rigid filaments which prevent the double fabric to be squeezed. The exterior plastics layers are curable laminates. FIG. 1 shows such a composite material. The material is obtained by applying fiber mats impregnated with curable synthetic resins to both sides of the double fabric containing spacer filaments, and subsequently bonding fiber mats and double fabric by compression.

    Abstract: Process for reducing the amount of shrinking that occurs when a furan resin is cured which comprises adding to a furan resin from 15 to 50 percent by weight based on the total weight of the binding material, of a copolymer of (a) at least one alpha , beta -olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid component which is at most dibasic and has not more than four carbon atoms and (b) a copolymerizable olefinically unsaturated monomer having from 2 to 18 carbon atoms in a ratio of a) to b) from 1:0.5 to 1:20, said copolymer having an average molecular weight of 400 to 3000, and moulded bodies comprising a cured furan resin containing a copolymer as defined above.

    Abstract: A description is given of rigid, planar flat collectors and heat exchangers which are constructed from two outer layers and a core layer lying in between on the sandwich principle, the core layer consisting of spherically shaped single-grain material of uniform height which has adequate dimensional stability. A process for producing the said heat exchangers is also described. The outer layers consist of plastic, preferably glass fibre reinforced, unsaturated polyester resin, while the particles of the core layer may, for example, take an egg-shaped or spherical form and consist of inorganic or organic material. The production of the heat exchanger according to the invention is carried out by applying the particles of the intermediate layer to the lower, as yet unhardened outer layer, the particles penetrating into the layer of resin in a punctiform manner. Subsequently, the upper outer layer is applied, a puntiform adhesion likewise taking place. The three-dimensional structure in sandwich form obtained is subsequently cured.

In the examples the resin mixtures comprise unsaturated polyesters prepared from polyethylene terephthalate, maleic dibutyl ester and dimethyl propanediol or phthalic acid, maleic acid, diethylene glycol and triethylene glycol, styrene, dimethyl aniline, diethyl aniline, arenaceous sand, quartz powder, kieselweiss, titanium dioxide, a cotelomer of styrene and maleic anhydride and asbestos fibres and polymerized using benzoyl peroxide in a shrinkage beam.
