Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for automatic creation of service temÂplates for deployment of services in a data processing infrastructure (100), such as a cloud computing environment, which provides a pool of resources. A service template is interÂpreted by a service orchestrator (120), the service orchestraÂtor allocates resources from the pool of resources and deploys services based on the resources by interpreting the service template. The method comprises the steps of: receiving existing packages (L1 -L3) of configuration scripts and at least one run list (RL1, RL2) for automatic installation or configuration of resources on existing servers; extracting from the packages (Ll-L3) of configuration scripts deployment information regarding the resources to be installed or configured by the configuration scripts and generate a collection of resource types based on the information inÂcluding their associated automation modules; extracting from the packages (Ll-L3) of configuration scripts and at least one run list (RL1, RL2) deployment dependencies beÂtween the resources to be installed or configured by the configuration scripts; and using the deployment information and the deployment dependenÂcies for creating a service template describing the deployment hierarchy of the resources for deploying a specific service.

Abstract: A method and system for automatically cloning IT resource structure in stateful web services environments by employing a new approach for configuration management. The present new approach models the configurational state of each resource as a stateful web service. Configuration data are provided by this service's resource properties. Relationships between configurations of different resources are modeled as “stateful web services relationships” between web service instances. These relationships can be navigated, which allows exploring the configuration of a whole system in a standards-based way. Additionally a new web service interface is provided by the stateful web service encapsulating the resource. This interface provides two new operations: “getConfiguration” allows an exploiter to take a snapshot of a resource's and related resources' configurational state and “setConfiguration” allows for setting the configurational state of a resource to a previously saved state. An invocation of “getConfiguration” results in the creation of a new stateful web service instance that stores the configurational state of each resource. This new web service interface is implemented on a per-resource type basis. Any back-end technology may be used to implement this new web service interface.

Abstract: A first aspect addresses a method and device for making a media file accessible via a web page. First, a web design tool receives a media file to be made accessible via a web page. Then, said media file is sent to a streaming service provider. Subsequently, a key generated by said streaming service provider allowing to unambiguously identifying said sent media file is received and an identifier derived from said key is placed into the web page through which the media file should be accessed. A second aspect addresses a method and device installed at the streaming service provider's side for serving a user's request for hosting a media file to be streamed to a visitor's computer on its request.

Abstract: Data management systems, particularly where the storage of business oriented data is involved, includes the use of a data bank which gives a high level of data security etc. Alternatively, hierarchical filing systems can be used. Where there is a problem of data consistency, such as when business applications require access for reading and writing this data, and where the data is stored in different resources, such as a data bank and a filing system, simultaneously, and must be consistently managed, then a transaction service is used, giving the advantage of consistent data update, particularly when a transaction manager is used, and the end-user can have confidence that he is handling the updated data. The transaction program units (20) are made available for cooperation with the given filing system(10) in which the given transaction- program unit comprises a transaction function for changes to the given filing system.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method (400) is provided for updating network security-policy rules when network resources are provisioned in a service landscape instance. The method includes categorizing network resources in a service landscape instance based on a service landscape model (404). The method further includes responding to the provisioning of a network resource by automatically generating one or more security policy rules for a newly-provisioned network resource (406). Additionally, the method includes updating security policy rules of pre-existing network resources in the service landscape instance that are determined to be eligible to communicate with the newly-provisioned network resource so as to include the newly-provisioned network resource as a remote resource based on the service landscape model (408).

Abstract: A server 205, 206 makes a request for a service in a distributed computing system 200, such as a cloud computing environment. A management engine system, running a management engine 209, 201, analyses a model 211 of the requested service. The service model contains a graph of nodes. Each node has a resource type and may have management rules. For each node, the management engine system uses a resource instance catalogue 250 and a service provider catalogue 210 to find a resource manager 214, 219, 222, which can provide a resource instance, which matches the type and rules of then of the node. The resource manager then creates the resource instance and allocates it to providing the requested service. The rules may include load requirements for resource instances, which may be updated based on the actual monitored loads of the instances.

Abstract: Media Distribution within the Internet is done with the help of Application-Servers, Content-Servers and distributed Edge-Servers where the clients are connected to Media Distribution Services. A computer system is provided comprising client 1 , having a Web browser with a media player 2 , Web application server 3 , content server, edge servers ES 1 to ES 4 and media request broker 11 . After the client 1 has selected a media for streaming the media request broker 11 makes a determination concerning an appropriate edge server to perform the streaming operation. This determination is made based on an extension of the client's http request made by the edge server and passed from the application server to the media request broker.

Abstract: The method involves starting a program on a system by initiating a program call to set up communications between at least two programs to run a program. The call is sent to a control program that has pre-started at least one process, in one or more defined address spaces, to enable data exchange between programs. The program is loaded in defined address spaces by changing a selected pre-started process. The state of the program is notifying to the control program. An Independent claim is also included for a process manager for managing address spaces within a system.
