Abstract: A method and system to selectively secure the display of advertisements on web browsers. A method in accordance with an embodiment includes: defining a particular displayed area of the interpreted markup file; obtaining the DOM tree of the interpreted markup file, the DOM tree comprising parent and child nodes, each node being associated with displayable elements; identifying in the DOM tree a set of child nodes whose displayable elements comprise the particular displayed area; identifying in the DOM tree a first parent node comprising the set of child nodes; converting displayable elements associated with the identified first parent node to an image; generating a second parent node comprising the image; and modifying the DOM tree into a modified DOM tree by deleting the identified set of child nodes and by replacing the identified first parent node by the second parent node.

Abstract: System for enhancing the security of the e-mails transmitted from a sender (10) to a receiver (12) over a data transmission network such as Internet wherein a Message Transfer Agent (MTA) (14) associated with the sender is in charge of transmitting over the network an original e-mail sent by the sender. The MTA associated with the sender includes a message splitting means (16) adapted to divide the original e-mail into a plurality of chunks according to a predetermined algorithm and a predetermined list of relay MTAs (20, 22, 24) to which are forwarded the plurality of chunks. The system comprises a chunk assembly agent (28) for receiving from the relay MTAs the plurality of chunks and re-assembling them by using the predetermined algorithm in order to re-build the e-mail before sending it to the receiver.

Abstract: An RFID system and tag, and a method for identifying objects using an RFID system are disclosed. In an embodiment, an RFID tag comprises a microchip for storing an identification sequence, a tag antenna coupled with the microchip for receiving and transmitting the RF signal; and a ferrous metal portion disposed near the IC and the tag antenna. The ferrous metal portion is sensitive to, and heats up when subjected to, magnetic induction. The heat of the ferrous metal is propagated to the RFID tag such that the tag reaches its operating temperature more quickly.

Abstract: Headers in some protocols (eg. SIP, HTTP) can include header names/header field names/methods that are case insensitive strings (Fig. 7 - 711,712,714-716) and which may also have abbreviated forms (713). Searching for all possible strings can be laborious. The invention proposes converting the strings into a canonical format (720,722) which reduces the string searching required. Mappings from received strings to canonical forms are built up by converting strings to lower case 305, searching with the lower case version 306 and then adding a map from the received string to a new 309/existing 308 canonical form. Once strings are in the map they can be used for direct look up of canonical forms 302-304. The canonical form includes an integer (eg. memory location or other index value) that may be used for further searching (Fig. 4 404).
