Abstract: Se proporciona un método, sistema, producto de programa de computadora y método para desplegar infraestructura de cómputo, en donde un comando de operación de copia a punto en el tiempo para una copia a punto en el tiempo de un volumen fuente a punto en el tiempo a un volumen objetivo a punto en el tiempo es recibido, en tanto que se efectúan operaciones de copia continuas desde los volúmenes fuente de copia continuas a volúmenes objetivo de copia continuas. Se hace una determinación en cuanto a si el volumen objetivo a punto en el tiempo es un primer volumen fuente de copia continua y si el volumen fuente a punto en el tiempo es un segundo volumen fuente de copia continua. Se hace una determinación de metadatos correspondientes a la operación de copia a punto en el tiempo en respuesta a la determinación de que el volumen objetivo a punto en el tiempo es el primer volumen fuente de copia continua y el volumen fuente a punto en el tiempo es el segundo volumen fuente de copia continua. Se efectúan operaciones de copia a punto en el tiempo el los volúmenes objetivo de copia continua en base a los metadatos determinados para ejecutar el comando de operación de copia a punto en el tiempo mientras que se efectúan las operaciones de copia continuas.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for continuously protecting data. A mirror module mirrors a primary record set to a base record set. A log module accumulates each record change to the primary record set in a log. A change selection module selects a record change from the log. A change application module applies the selected record change to the base record set to form a recovered record set.

Abstract: Primary mass storage devices 56 are organised into groups A,B,C, and updates made to stored data therein are written to respective journals 60 for subsequent application to the mirror stores 58. The time of the latest update for each group A,B,C is stored in the master data set MDS. Updates stored and timestamped in the journals are copied into the respective backup store when their timestamp precedes the earliest of the times stored in the master data set. The invention allows data consistency to be maintained among groups of stores. The invention may be used in data recovery.

Der Speicher-Controller kopiert den Zieldatensatz in die Speicher-Cloud, um einen Sicherungsdatensatz zu erzeugen, der die zeitpunktgesteuerte Sicherung des Quelldatensatzes ist, wobei der Zugriff auf den Sicherungsdatensatz über einen Verweis auf die Speicherpositionen des Quelldatensatzes möglich ist.

Abstract: A method for managing storage functions in a data replication environment is disclosed. In one embodiment, such a method includes continually monitoring for changes to a storage configuration at a secondary site. Upon detecting changes to the storage configuration at the secondary site, the method transmits remote metadata describing the changes to the primary site and stores the remote metadata at the primary site. The method then initiates a storage management function at the primary site which is mirrored to the secondary site. In order to perform the storage management function, the method reads the remote metadata at the primary site to determine the storage configuration at the secondary site. The method then performs the storage management function at the primary site in a way that takes into account the storage configuration at the secondary site. A corresponding apparatus, system, and computer-readable medium are also disclosed and claimed herein.

Abstract: A remote data shadowing system provides storage based, real time disaster recovery capability. Record updates at a primary site cause write I/O operations in a storage subsystem therein. The write I/O operations are time stamped and the time, sequence, and physical locations of the record updates are collected in a primary data mover. The primary data mover groups sets of the record updates and associated control information based upon a predetermined time interval, the primary data mover appending a prefix header to the record updates thereby forming self describing record sets. The self describing record sets are transmitted to a remote secondary site wherein consistency groups are formed such that the record updates are ordered so that the record updates can be shadowed in an order consistent with the order the record updates cause write I/O operations at the primary site.
