Abstract: In the process of returning to a series of processes for returning to a normal operation mode, an I/O address showing a change line status register of the FDC is set to a stored register of the trap logic. When the process returns to the normal operation mode and then an access to the first status register is trapped, a change line status flag value is rewritten. The faked OS/driver invalidates the floppy disk allocation information in the main memory.

Abstract: To provide a method, for a computer system to which a plurality of display devices can be connected, for managing the power supply to individual display devices. ÄConstitutionÜ For the configuration of the present invention, as a further determination condition, resource information is added, concerning the positions (524 and 532) of a mouse pointer and of an active window, to a determination condition of a current screen DIM/saver that constitutes the operating state for a keyboard/mouse. The positions of the resources on a plurality of screens are determined, and when they have not been displayed on a specific monitor for a specific period of time, that monitor is moved to a low power consumption mode (a low power operating state). According to one aspect of the present invention, a computer that can be connected to a plurality of display devices comprises: means for determining whether screens of the plurality of display devices satisfy a predetermined condition; and means, based on the result obtained by the determination means, for changing the operating state of at least one of the display devices that satisfy the predetermined condition.

Abstract: INFORMATION PROCESSING SYSTEM A system which is intended for wake-up restores and wakes up information necessary for resuming a task from a detachable external storage device regardless of whether or not the system has executed hibernation. Historical information showing that hibernation is executed in a system providing in the past external storage device is installed in a predetermined area of an external storage device. The wake-up system checks the history information for executing wake-up. Furthermore, the external storage device stores control information including system configuration information when the task is suspended. The wake-up system compares stored system configuration information with the configuration information of itself. When the configuration information does not agree, restore of information to the main memory to the external storage device is rejected.

Abstract: Provided is an information processing system which prevents data destruction resulting from the replacement of a floppy disk during a low power-consumption mode in which a floppy disk controller and a floppy disk drive are powered off. In the process of returning from hibernation mode to a normal operation mode, an I/O address showing a change line status register of the floppy disk controller is set to a stored register of the trap logic (status 173). When the process returns to the normal operation mode and then an access to the first status register is trapped, a change line status flag value is rewritten (status 174). The OS/driver responds to the faked status and invalidates the floppy disk allocation information in the main memory.
