    Abstract: Un metodo para la compresion de una imagen de entrada (40) que incluye una pluralidad de pixeles (43, 45, 57) que tienen valores de pixel de entrada respectivos. El metodo incluye cuantificar los valores de pixel de entrada a fin de generar los valores de pixel cuantificados respectivos y generar una imagen cuantificada mediante la sustitucion de de entrada respectivos en la imagen de entrada. Los valores de pixel de entrada en la imagen de entrada se reordenan a fin de generar una imagen reordenada (59) en la cual se agrupan los valores de pixel de entrada mediante sus valores cuantificados respectivos. La imagen cuantificada y la imagen reordenada se comprimen a fin de generar un archivo de imagenes de salida comprimido.

    Abstract: A method for compression of an input image that includes a plurality of pixels having respective input pixel values. The method includes quantizing the input pixel values so as to generate respective quantized pixel values, and generating a quantized image by substituting the quantized pixel values for the respective input pixel values in the input image. The input pixel values in the input image are reordered so as to generate a reordered image in which the input pixel values are grouped by their respective quantized values. The quantized image and the reordered image are compressed so as to generate a compressed output image file.
