Abstract:
A station (STA) configured for Quality-of-Service (QoS) management performs a Simple Reflective QoS (SRQ) protocol with an access point (AP) (i.e., another QoS STA) for QoS management of a QoS flow. As part of the SRQ protocol to exchange QoS profiles, the STA may encode a request frame to include a first SRQ capabilities information element (IE) for transmission to the AP. The inclusion of the first SRQ capabilities IE indicating that the STA supports the SRQ protocol. The STA may also decode a response frame received from the AP. The response frame includes a second SRQ capabilities IE indicating that the AP supports the SRQ protocol. The STA may also determine a QoS profile for the QoS flow based on SRQ capabilities of the STA and the AP. The STA may also create a SRQ tuple based the QoS profile for initiating the QoS flow.
Abstract:
A WiFi serial bus (WSB) attribute for use in Wi-Fi Alliance defined point-to-point (P2P) discovery mechanism includes a plurality of fields disposed in the frame. The WiFi serial bus attribute is arranged to provide information in the plurality of fields to support connectivity decisions for a USB device in a point-to-point network using a WSB protocol. The WSB attribute includes WSB architectural element information and information associated with a USB device behind a USB protocol adaptation layer (PAL).
Abstract:
Embodiments of a mobile device and method for secure online sign-up and provisioning of credentials for Wi-Fi hotspots are generally described herein. In some embodiments, provisioning occurs using a service set identifier (SSID) to associate with a hotspot and retrieve a virtual LAN (VLAN) identifier. The VLAN identifier is used to complete the signup and provisioning process. In some embodiments, a hotspot may implement a primary SSID and a dependent SSID. The mobile device associates with the hotspot using the dependent SSID to perform the secure online signup and provisioning process. Once credentials are obtained using the signup and provisioning process, the device can connect to the hotspot using the primary SSID and the already provisioned credentials. The provisioned credentials may include certificates, username/password, or SIM-type credentials.
Abstract:
Examples are disclosed for switching between wireless networks. In some examples a method for switching between wireless network may comprise creating a virtual wireless adapter, maintaining a first wireless connection with a first wireless network, initiating a second wireless connection with a second wireless network using the virtual wireless adapter, disconnecting the first wireless connection with the first wireless network, and establishing the second wireless connection with the second wireless network. Other examples are described and claimed.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a memory to store one or more identifiers for respective one or more home service providers, circuitry coupled to the memory, and a network access component for execution on the circuitry to automatically identify a set of access points that can provide wireless service to a device based upon the one or more identifiers, and select an access point from the identified set of access points to establish a wireless connection. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.
Abstract:
Described herein are systems, methods, and apparatus for automatically establishing secure connections to wireless networks using a wireless local area network access point which calls for acceptance of terms and conditions of use. During an initial connection, the user is prompted to review and accept terms and conditions associated with use of that wireless network. Once accepted, future connections at that or other access points, which use those same terms and conditions, occur free from user intervention.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a memory to store subscription data for access to a network, the subscription data including at least terms and conditions information for the network; circuitry linked to the memory; and a connection component for execution on the circuitry to identify an access point connected to the network and automatically forward at least a portion of the subscription data to the identified access point in an association message. Other embodiments are disclosed and claimed.
Abstract:
A mobile device may select between multiple networks in order to offload network traffic from one network to another. Policies under which network selection happens are established by network operators. A hierarchy of policy servers are established where a central policy server with policies established by a network operator can delegate authority for network switching to a local policy server with policies established by the same or a different network operator. The central policy server can establish criteria under which network switching or network selection is delegated to a local server. Policies from the local policy server can include information about local network conditions. A mobile device can use the policies from the central server and local server to select a network.
Abstract:
A Quality-of-Service (QoS) Management AP is configured to support QoS Management features and to perform a QoS Management Protocol. The AP decodes an Enhanced Add Traffic Stream (E-ADDTS) Request QoS Action Frame (E-ADDTS Req) received from a station (STA) to initiate QoS setup for a traffic stream. The STA may be a QoS Management STA configured to support the QoS Management features and perform the QoS Management protocol. The AP may encode, for transmission to the STA in response to the E-ADDTS Req, an E-ADDTS Response QoS Action Frame (E-ADDTS Resp) which includes a status code to indicate whether the QoS setup has been accepted. When the QoS setup is accepted, the E-ADDTS Resp includes a QoS setup ID within a QoS setup ID field in the E-ADDTS Resp that uniquely identifies the QoS setup for the traffic stream.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, computer readable media, and methods for received signal strength indicator (RSSI) thresholds for transitions are disclosed. An apparatus comprising processing circuitry is disclosed, where the processing circuitry is configured to associate with a first access point (AP), the first AP being part of an extended service set (ESS), decode a frame from the first AP, the frame including an ESS report element, the ESS report element including a recommended basic service set (BSS) transition threshold within the ESS field, and decode a beacon frame from the first AP. The processing circuitry may be further configured to respond to a measured RSSI of the beacon frame being below a value indicated by the recommended BSS transition threshold within the ESS field, by initiating a transition to a second AP.
