    Abstract: A latching device comprising a mounting base 10 and a handle 12 pivotally coupled to the base, the handle being movable between first and second positions. A latching plate 15 is pivotally mounted to the base 10 and means 18, 20 and 20a are provided for moving the latching plate, as the handle is moved between its first and second positions, such that the latching plate moves between a latching position, where it preferably projects substantially outwardly from the base, to a non-latching position, where it preferably projects upwardly from the base.

    Abstract: A window stay for adjustable mounting of a window sash on a window frame. The stay comprises a frame mounting plate and a sash mounting plate with long and short arms joining the respective plates to one another. The ends of the longer arm are pivotally joined to the respective plates but the shorter arm is pivoted by one end to the sash plate while the other end is pivoted to a free sliding carriage on the frame plate. Means are provided so that the carriage can be locked in at least one position on the frame plate.

    Abstract: A window stay has a plate 11 for fixing to the window and plates 10a and 10b (which may be integral) for fixing to the frame. A short link 12 and a long link 15 are pivotally connected at their ends to plates 10a or 10b and 11 and a third link 19 is pivotally connected between link 15 and plate 10a or 10b. The pivotal connections can be frictional and the connection of link 15 or 19 to plate 10a or 10b includes a sliding connection along the frame plate.

    Abstract: @ A pivot bearing between first and second components (10,11) each of which is formed from a metal material. The pivot bearing comprises a hollow annular boss (14) which is formed as an integral part of the first component (10) by being drawn from the base material from which the first component is formed. An opening (12) is provided in the second component (11) and the annular boss (14) is pivotally located within the opening. The free end portion (18) of the boss (14) is pressed over such that the cross-sectional area of the free end is greater than the opening (12) thereby pivotally retaining the second component (11) on the annular boss (14). A wear-resistant plastics bushing comprising a sleeve (25) and a flange (16) can be positioned within the bearing and placed under pressure by the coupling of the components to create a required level of friction within the bearing.

    Abstract: A pivot joint for pivotally coupling two components (10 and 11) where at least one of the components is movable relative to the other. A first component (11) is formed of a plastics material and has a projecting hollow spigot (12) the spigot being engaged within an opening (14) in the second component (10). In order to effect the pivotal mounting of the first component (11) with the second component (10) the free end of the spigot is deformed to have a diameter which is larger than the diameter of the opening (14) in the second component (10). Deformation of the free end of the spigot (12) is preferably carried out by a headed fastening (13) being inserted into the bore of the hollow spigot.
