Abstract: An elevator car (1) is proposed in which special measures are provided for evacuation. The elevator car (1) has several side walls (3), a floor (5) and a ceiling (7) which together enclose an interior (8) of the elevator car (1). The elevator car moreover has a flap (9) arranged on one of the side walls (3), and a ladder (21) for evacuating persons from the interior (8) of the elevator car (1). The flap (9) is movable between a closed state, in which the flap (9) blocks access from the interior (8) of the elevator car (1) to an area (19) behind the flap (9), and an open state, in which access is possible from the interior (8) of the elevator car (1) to the area (19) behind the flap (9). The flap (9) has a height which is less than the height of the side walls (3). In the closed state of the flap (9), the ladder (21) is to be arranged in the area (19) behind the flap (9). The ladder (21) is removable from the flap (9) and can be increased in length for the evacuation.
