Abstract:
The present invention involves improvements in reciprocable pumps. In one aspect, applicable to single action pumps, a quick release mounting means is provided for attaching a fluid end piece to a power frame. The frame has a tapered opening for receiving a barrel portion of the fluid end therein. A wedge device of mateable taper with the opening connects the barrel securely to the frame. The wedge extends around the transverse outer periphery of the barrel portion. Another aspect of the invention involves providing axially rotatable intake or exhaust manifolds. In a multiplex pump, the manifold may be rotatable as a unit, or the section for each conduit may be separately rotatable. This feature permits easier handling when making repairs, especially on larger pumps. Finally, in pumps having non-vertical suction or discharge passages, the valve counterbores are tilted toward a vertical direction, but not more than an angle at which straight-line machining of the suction or discharge passage is still possible. The more nearly vertical alignment of the valves reduces wear during service. This feature is especially applicable to fluid ends having suction and discharge passages which are equiangular with respect to a piston or plunger passage.

Systems for retarding the speed of a railcar comprise: a brake; a hydraulic actuator moving the brake between a closed position in which the brake applies braking pressure on a wheel of the railcar and an open position in which the brake does not apply braking pressure on the wheel of the rail car; a hydraulic circuit comprising a first manifold and a second manifold; a pump configured to pump hydraulic fluid into at least one of the first manifold and the second manifold; and a logic element controlling pressure of the fluid in the first manifold such that when the wheel enters the brake and forces the brake towards the open position. The logic element reacts to maintain a selected pressure in the first manifold, thus causing a selected braking pressure to be applied by the brake on the wheel of the railcar.

A turbine blade with a generally hollow airfoil having an outer wall that defines at least one radially extending chamber for receiving the flow of a coolant, the airfoil including a leading edge that resides in an upstream or forward direction, a trailing edge that resides in a downstream or aft direction, a convex suction side, and a concave pressure side, the turbine blade comprising: a plurality of inserts disposed within the chamber that are configured to initially receive at least a portion of the coolant entering the chamber and direct a substantial portion of the coolant through a plurality of insert apertures toward the inner surface of the outer wall; wherein the inserts are configured to form at least one inward bleed channel and a central collector passage into which the inward bleed channel flows.
Abstract:
An ultra-wide band (UWB) waveform generator and encoder for use in a UWB digital communication system. The UWB waveform is made up of a sequence of shaped wavelets. The waveform generator produces multi-amplitude, multi-phase wavelets that are time-constrained, zero mean, and can be orthogonal in phase, yet still have a −10 dB power spectral bandwidth that is larger than the frequency of the peak of the power spectrum In one embodiment, the wavelets are bi-phase wavelets. The encoder multiplies each data bit by an n-bit identifying code, (e.g., a user code), resulting in a group of wavelets corresponding to each data bit. The identifying codeword is passed onto the UWB waveform generator for generation of a UWB waveform that can be transmitted via an antenna.
Abstract:
An improved vertical filtration unit which includes an airlift and a washbox designed for more efficient washing of dirt particles from the filtration material. The washbox consists of a filter media shield, and a washbox skirt for washing of the filtration material. A throttling valve on the wash water discharge line regulates the overall cleaning rate of the unit. The filtered liquid is discharged via a riser pipe which feeds into a filtered liquid box before exiting the filtration unit.

An auto-adhering one-component room temperature vulcanizable silicone sealant composition generally utilizing a di-substituted mixed oxime-alkoxysilyalkyl area adhesion promoter compound. The sealant has low odor, is non-corrosive to ferrous or aluminum substrates, has good adhesion to many types of substrates, and eliminates the need for a silicone resin primer. In addition, it exhibits surprisingly good adhesion to oil contaminated surfaces.
Abstract:
An electrical connector containing removable contacts upon which there are mounted electrical circuit components. One or more such components may be mounted on the side of each contact body. A spring provides electrical connection between the components and the grounding plate in the connector containing openings into which the contacts are removably mounted.
