Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an oxidation-type hair-dye exhibiting excellent bleaching action to black hair and dyeing property to gray hair, having remarkably im proved gray-hair masking effect and causing little damage to hair by combining a 3rd agent containing a percarbonate or a perborate as an activator. CONSTITUTION:The objective oxidation-type hair-dye is composed of (A) the 1st agent containing 0.001-20wt.% of an oxidation dye composed of a precursor (e.g. p-phenylenediamine or p-aminophenol) and a coupler (e.g. resorcinol or m-aminophenol), (B) the 2nd agent containing 0.1-12wt.% (especially 1-6wt.%) of hydrogen peroxide and (C) the 3rd agent containing 1-100wt.% (especially 50-100wt.%) of an alkali metal, alkaline-earth metal or ammonium salt of percarbonic acid or perboric acid. The ratio of A:B is preferably 1:9 to 9:1 (especially 3:7 to 7:3) and that of (A+B):C is preferably 1000:1 to 6:4 (especially 100:1 to 3:1).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a dyeing composition for keratose capable of dyeing in high chrome and in strong color tone, containing a p-phenylenediamine derivative as a developing substance and a coupling substance. CONSTITUTION:A dyeing composition comprising a novel p-phenylenediamine derivative shown by the formula (R is mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl) containing an introduced hydroxyalkyl group and a trifluoromethyl group or a salt thereof as a developing agent and a coupling substance (e.g. p-phenylenediamine). The blending ratio of the developing substance and the coupling substance is about 1:0.5-1:2 in molar ratio. Both the substances are blended with a wetting agent, emulsifying agent, solubilizer, thickening agent, stabilizer, touch improver, hair dressing base and perfume and the aimed substance is produced by a conventional procedure. The prepared substance is prepared into a form such as cream, emulsion, gel or solution.

The substance is used in combination with a coupling agent which is used in usual oxidative dyeing to develop a wide range of colors from yellow through red to blue, further from gray to blackish brown, and its tone is high bright. The developed color is fast to light, washing and abrasion. PREPARATION:Catalytic hydrogenation of the compound of formula II is carried out in a solvent in the presence of a catalyst such as Pd or Pt at room temperature to the boiling point of the solvent under a hydrogen partial pressure of 1-250kg/cm to give the compound of formula I.

Thereby, dyeing of a wide range of color tone from yellow to red to further gray to dark brown can be carried out by combination of the various developing substances with the coupling components.

The developing substance and coupling substance are used at a blend molar ratio of 1:0.5-1:2 and prepared in an agent type such as cream, emulsion, gel or solution.
