    Abstract: NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R is mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl) or its salts. EXAMPLE:1-N-(2'-Hydroxyethyl)amino-2-trifluoromethyl-4-aminobenzene. USE:A color-developing substance for dyeing corneal fibers. The substance is used in combination with a coupling agent which is used in usual oxidative dyeing to develop a wide range of colors from yellow through red to blue, further from gray to blackish brown, and its tone is high bright. The developed color is fast to light, washing and abrasion. PREPARATION:Catalytic hydrogenation of the compound of formula II is carried out in a solvent in the presence of a catalyst such as Pd or Pt at room temperature to the boiling point of the solvent under a hydrogen partial pressure of 1-250kg/cm to give the compound of formula I.

CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains aminophenols of formula I (X is halogen) (preferably 2-chloro-4-aminophenol) as a color-developing substance and an alpha-naphthol derivative of formula II (R is H or OH) (preferably 1-naphthol, 1,5-dihydroxynaphthol or 1,7-dihydroxynaphthol) and/or p-amino-o- cresol as a coupling agent. The molar ratio of the color-developing substance to the coupling agent is preferably 1:(0.8-1.5).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a dyeing composition for keratose capable of dyeing in high chrome and in strong color tone, containing a p-phenylenediamine derivative as a developing substance and a coupling substance. CONSTITUTION:A dyeing composition comprising a novel p-phenylenediamine derivative shown by the formula (R is mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl) containing an introduced hydroxyalkyl group and a trifluoromethyl group or a salt thereof as a developing agent and a coupling substance (e.g. p-phenylenediamine). The blending ratio of the developing substance and the coupling substance is about 1:0.5-1:2 in molar ratio. Both the substances are blended with a wetting agent, emulsifying agent, solubilizer, thickening agent, stabilizer, touch improver, hair dressing base and perfume and the aimed substance is produced by a conventional procedure. The prepared substance is prepared into a form such as cream, emulsion, gel or solution.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, containing a specific developing substance and coupling substance and capable of dyeing keratinous fiber, such as hair, to a strong color tone with a high saturation. CONSTITUTION:A color developing substance consisting of a triaminopyrimidine derivative expressed by formula I or II or a salt (e.g. inorganic acid or organic acid salt) is combined with a coupling substance, e.g. a substance selected from resorcin, 2-methylresorcin and 4-chlororesorcin (forming orange to red color tone by this combination) or with 4-propyl-2,6-diaminopyridine or 3,4-dimethyl-2,6- diaminopyridine (forming bright yellow by this combination), etc., and converted into a creamy or emulsion form to dye keratinous fiber, such as hair, with excellent fastness to light and washing. Thereby, dyeing of a wide range of color tone from yellow to red to further gray to dark brown can be carried out by combination of the various developing substances with the coupling components.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the titled compound useful as an urethane catalyst, etc., in good yield in a short time, by cyclizing inexpensive N,N'-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine as a raw material in the presence of a specific catalyst while heating. CONSTITUTION:N,N'-Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine obtained by reacting piperazine with 2 equivalents ethylene oxide, etc., is cyclized in the presence of a titanium compound, e.g. tetra-n-butoxyethane, tetraisopropoxytitanium, TiO2, etc., as a catalyst and an alkali metal salt of acetic acid, e.g. sodium acetate, potassium acetate, etc., as a promoter, as necessary, in a solvent, e.g. polyethylene glycol, etc., preferably at 250-350 deg.C for 2-4hr under atmospheric pressure while heating to afford the aimed compound. EFFECT:The aimed compound is efficiently obtained by using the raw material readily available in a large amount at a low cost without using an expensive catalyst and special equipment.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:Crude 1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octane containing ethylene glycol is treated with an inexpensive isocyanate and distilled to effect purification whereby the titled compound of high purity is readily obtained. CONSTITUTION:A crude 1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octane containing at least ethylene glycol which is obtained by cyclization of N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine is treated with an isocyanate to polymerize impurities and distilled to effect purification. Thus, the objective compound of high purity of 96-98% is obtained. Tolylene diisocyanate or hexamethylene diisocyanate is preferably used as the isocyanate. EFFECT:The purification can be done without use of a large amount of solvents with simple installation and operations. USE:Urethane catalyst and others.
