    Abstract: The invention relates to a system for manufacturing an engraved plate for intaglio printing of sheets of security papers, said system comprising a computer and at least one engraving tool controlled by said computer in accordance with a programmed engraving process, wherein said computer is programmed to control the engraving tool in accordance with three-dimensional guiding pixel data (X, Y, Z) of a master depth-map of one said sheet to engrave a non engraved plate pixel by pixel, and wherein said master depth-map is generated on said computer on the basis of at least one original depth-map stored on said computer, said original depth-map consisting of a three-dimensional raster image of at least a part of one said security paper. The invention also relates to a system and method for generating said guiding data.

    Abstract: The printing machine, having a main printing group with two blanket rollers (2, 3), incorporates an additional independent printing group (20) situated before the main one in the direction of the paper's travel and allowing a motif to be printed in at least one color across the whole width of the paper before it passes to the main group. The machine also has a drying unit with UV lamps (27, 28) situated round the additional group's roller (21). The additional group can be used for offset, silk screen or heliographic printing.

    Abstract: The method for making a fresh cleaning fluid for a copper-plate printing machine. It involves using softened water, sulphonated ricin oil and caustic soda in proportions of 98.5 per cent, 1 per cent and 0.5 per cent respectively. After the fluid has been used it is subjected to ultrafiltration, producing a clear solution and a concentrated solution. The clear solution is recycled and the concentrated solution is flocculated to give solid residues and a filtered solution, the latter being neutralised, evaporated and distilled. The distilled water is used to make fresh solution, and the contaminated concentrated solution is used to make dry solid salts and a filtrate used for flocculation. The flocculant is made with the addition of calcium chloride and ferrous chloride, and the neutralisation is performed by hydrochloric acid with or without sulphuric acid.
