A method and apparatus of encoding and decoding an Extensible Markup Language (XML) document using a path code is provided. A method of encoding an XML document, the method including: searching the XML document for all element tags and all attributes including character data; extracting an XPath of each of the retrieved element tags and attributes; converting the extracted XPath into a predetermined path code; and expressing an occurrence indicator of each of all element tags included in the converted XPath.

An apparatus and method for adapting a scalable video coding (SVC) bitstream is provided. The apparatus (200) may include: a layer selection unit (210) to select at least one quality layer from a plurality of quality layers contained in each of spatial layers of the SVC bitstream; a layer discarding unit (220) to discard the at least one quality layer; and a layer dependency modification unit (230) to modify a quality layer dependency between one or more quality layers remaining among the plurality of quality layers, or a spatial layer dependency between the plurality of spatial layers. Accordingly, it is possible to adapt the SVC bitstream where the entire quality of spatial layers is enhanced.

Disclosed is an integrated voice/audio encoding/decoding apparatus whereby the overlap region of a window is adjusted based on the transition interval. In the present invention, encoding is carried out by making windows of relatively long length overlap in order to increase the efficiency of encoding, while the overlap region of the windows is reduced in accordance with the transition interval when there is a transition interval between frames, thereby making it possible to reduce the occurrence of noise due to transition intervals.

Disclosed are an apparatus for producing contents which composes a screen by considering a plurality of MPEG-2 transport streams as one medium from a screen description such as Binary Format for Scenes (BIFS) or Lightweight application scene representation (LASeR) and records the composed screen and the MPEG-2 transport streams as a media file of an International Standardization Organization (ISO) format structure and an apparatus for regenerating contents which extracts the screen from the media file of the ISO format structure and regenerates the extracted screen.

The present invention relates to a multidimensional layer sending-and-receiving device and method for stereoscopic three-dimensional video data. According to one embodiment, a sending device of the present invention maps respective multidimensional data items onto a complex plane and converts the same to stream data items, and maps respective stream data items onto respective dimensions divided by time and space before sending. Also, according to one embodiment, a receiving device checks a received signal strength and performance and power mode, checks a service image corresponding to the received signal strength and performance and power mode, checks dimensions corresponding to the service image, and receives stream data of the checked dimensions.

Disclosed are a video encoding/decoding method and device. The video encoding method may comprise the steps of: establishing an adaptive filter corresponding to the current image; comparing the adaptive filter established in this way with at least one existing adaptive filter contained in a filter list; establishing whether to add the adaptive filter established in the way described to the adaptive filter list, based on the results of the comparison; and encoding the current image by using an adaptive filter contained in the filter list. In this way, encoding efficiency can be improved.
