Abstract: An orthogonal complex spreading method for multiple data inputs, each of the data inputs being allocated to either a first group or a second group, comprising steps of: generating first outputs (600) by multiplying each of data inputs in the first group (X 11 ... X n1 ) by a corresponding orthogonal sequence and a corresponding gain, respectively; generating a first output signal (810) by summing the first outputs; generating second outputs (700) by multiplying each of data inputs in the second group (X 12 ... X n2 ) by a corresponding orthogonal sequence and a corresponding gain, respectively; generating a second output signal (820) by summing the second outputs; receiving the first and second output signals in a complex form (900) and complex-multiplying the first and the second output signals by SC(OS 3 +jP-OS 4 ) (900, 300), wherein SC is a spreading code, OS 3 and OS 4 are orthogonal sequences, and P is a predetermined sequence.

Abstract: In-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) channels in a mobile unit are coded (13) producing digital word and command elements. Coded signals are passed to a code production unit, which forms spread spectrum codes attributable to the I and Q channels. The digital word elements, command elements and spread spectrum codes correspond to points in the same position and symmetrical with respect to a zero point on the phase domain. The elements are applied to a spread spectrum generator producing the signal modulation.

Abstract: A random access method in a cellular system is provided to integrate a process of configuring and transferring a CCCH(Common Control Channel) message in an RRC(Radio Resource Control) of a terminal and a process of configuring and transferring an MAC(Medium Access Control) control primitive into one, thereby simplifying RRC control operations of the terminal. An RRC(Radio Resource Control) layer(11) of a terminal(10) transfers a control primitive and an RRC connection request message to an MAC(Medium Access Control) layer(12) of the terminal(S101). The MAC layer of the terminal requests a base station to allocate resources for random access through a physical layer of the terminal. The MAC layer of the terminal sets up an uplink sub-channel by using resource information allocated by the base station. The MAC layer of the terminal transfers the RRC connection request message to the MAC layer of the base station through the uplink sub-channel(S109). The MAC layer of the terminal receives an RRC connection setup message from the MAC layer of the base station and transfers the RRC connection setup message to the RRC layer of the terminal(S110).
